So, for those who don't check the roleplaying forum, I just posted a a thread recruiting those who'd like to help me with a project that could potentially have grand repercussions within VO. The key is that I've proven it's possible atleast in some cases to make an autopilot bind, atleast from Eo to Cantus. With enough work at it, I think it'd be just as possible to do this for every system. It uses simple bind mechanics, such as the wait command and setting thrusters at the right angle, but it gets you from Eo to Cantus nonetheless.
My guild (Mynt's Guild, [MYNT]) is currently recruiting for members, looking for entrepreneurs to back our funding, and soon will be hiring testers to simply run the routes repeatedly, making sure everything works accurately. If you think you're interested, check out the post. This will all be carried out with the usual roleplaying flair, so if you do contribute join in the spirit and act your part! Atleast know that anything you say, I will take in the manner of an Itani space pilot. =D
Of course if at any time the Devs demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the project, it'll come to a swift termination.

I'm not a dev, but I voice my most severe disapproval of the very idea of an autopilot. Does that count?
Mynt, I'll try to get in-game and test it some soon. Anything in particular need testing? Dr.LecterVO at gmail dot com
Lecter, keep your half-assed self quiet.
Mynt, you definitively should email the devs about this ( and you shoudl've before you posted this)
Perhaps this is a joke? I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to post this on the public general fourm..I mean, Gez.

no no. let's try his binds and then create one to auto-pop his route.
I think Archon/Grim tried this before, and failed. Or he stopped. Or lost interest. I dunno. In any case, most autopilot projects somehow failed. Or got swallowed up.
Best of luck to you.
Best of luck to you.
I think that's great. Good luck dude.
I dont see whats wrong with aoutopilots. Would seem useful in those long boring proc missions....
But then again....we dont want VO to be like EVE.

Dr. Lecter: Telling someone to go to hell is not appreciated.
neat idea! i dont know a thing about binding, but it sounds neat
how will you allow for different entrance points into sectors?

At the moment I think actually docking with stations is well beyond the capabilities of this bind. Fear not, this will only automate cross system travel.
Voted it will miss wormholes about 40% of the time and you'll give up halfway through because it's stupidly impossible to make right.
edit: And it will break whenever it hits storms.

its easy enough to plot around storms
unless they've put storms everywhere since i've played

In my experiments with auto navigation binds, the only major obstacles are worm holes, and docking with stations. All other issues are resolvable.
ah hah, so this is what you where up to the other day. very interesting.. best of luck.
Have you actually tested it Steve? In 10 trials with the latest version, all of them worked, even if there were close ones. I'm interested to hear any reports of it not working correctly.
I think its very clever. Since the WH is 3000 meters, and the jump in sphere is also 300 meters, as long as you come in pointing the right direction (which is also consistent each time) it's all a matter of doing everything the right amount of time.
Cool stuff, I hope it works out. I don't know why the devs wouldn't approve, it doesn't hack out position data or anything else. It's a completely creative use of a bind. Rock on.

Two words: Gravy Trader.
The devs have said that they intended to implement an Autopilot some time along the way.
How would one launch from a station without clicking the button?
