With this influx of new players, I think we need to step up and try to emphasize the best part of VO's current state- the community. Whenever I log on there are new guys asking for help, so it seems like a 24/7 event. If you're on, try to take the time to befriend at least one of our newest members and give them a buddy to fight with. A lot of people I talk to (and myself included) stuck with VO because of a mentor-type player that showed them the ropes and was a good friend. Let's show our new recruits a good time!
Aye.
Show them a good time?
/me looks at Mystic
While she's taking care of that, I'll be available for anyone that needs help or wants to learn the ropes. Just ask on 100.
And remember to give the new players a turbo lock bind!

I'll remember to shoot the annoying ones.

I hovered after typing that for about three minutes, but I just couldn't think of anything else to say. And I thought we would be mature enough to let it be :P

It's odd. I thought it was normal for veterans to show new players the ropes. I sure do so whenever I see a new player in distress (not directly going to the virtual-phyiscal location of the player nowadays, since it takes quite some time).
I didn't know we had to tell each other to do that.

Imho, shoot Lecter, or his char, Trakus whenever you can. A [word that will get me muted by Whistler if I'm not more careful in the future] to noobs on bp. It's one thing to kill someone, another to throw it in their face. Not a good way to help noobs.
Make sure UiT noobs know about BP, they seem to miss out on pvp more I think that's rather important...and what toshiro said.

Any n00b who manages to kill Lecter instantly leaves n00b-dom!
(I'm only lurking these days unfortunately, but before you know it CygnusX and skinnypuppy will be back, helping out n00bs in each their way.)

Heh, I'm so rusty these days that most n00bs can get me, at least once. And BG, it's the n00b's throwing that in a player's face, after the player being gracious about it, that's liable to get them griefed. See, e.g., Exowhateverhisnamewas from last night.
P.S. There is no Dr. Lecter anymore; so far as I know, the character name is open. I'm only Trakus Shar now.

Meh, just because he did it first doesn't mean you should do it back.
Or grief him.
Or grief him.
Um, no, it does.
Most vets are solid with this, I just thought a reminder wouldn't hurt. Also because a few times I've been on with other vets (not necessarily you guys) a n00b had to repeat his question about four times before I realized that he hadn't been answered. So no, the problem isn't totally solved.
what tosh said.
Oh look, it is one of the vets I was talking about, right on cue!
Can we not turn each thread into an argument?
I'm on mostly in the late evenings. Most vets are quite helpful to noobs during that time and often beat me to answering questions. I really appreciate it.

I used to run impromptu combat training to new players, even when I was playing as a binary-spewing bot :) (just takes a bit of imagination to stay in character when you do that). Nothing like seeing your students coming out good in the end.
I hate newbs and ignore all and any questions they have.

Do they come out speaking binary too?
