I never used to have flickering and the only thing that has changed is the software. I lowered all of my settings to the minimum. I have been gone for quite a while and I don't remember my exact settings back in the day.

You might want to try changing your video driver within the game.

Enable VSync. Or Triple Buffering, if you want a more efficient solution and feel up to twiddling your gfx drivers a bit.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by flickering, but that sounds pretty odd.

You could try a different resolution or refresh rate in-game. Enabling vsync, like Rogue says, might help too. Make sure your video drivers are up to date.

It actually sounds like the Hz rating on your monitor is too low. Try setting it higher, like 85 Hz. Anything below that and I can pick it up visually, it annoys me.

Although I doubt that's his problem, since the vast majority of humans can't see above 60 Hz, and I don't know of any monitors that will operate without complaining below 60 Hz.
