Interesting... a middle ground for miners.
more background work... and ribbons. ;-)
It seems that if you mine some ore, drop it off in the station, go back outside, mine some more, and then come back in and sell the two loads at the same time, you only get credit for the most recent load. This seems broken.
I mined five mothloads of ore, unloading after each load without selling. After the unloading fifth load, I went into the commodities->sell tab and sold everything en-masse.
I only got credit (judging by the amount I was shown that I'd mined after I did get the badge) for the 120cu of the fifth load. After that, I mined 120cu, unload-and-selled it, and repeated.
EDIT: It seems that you can stockpile for the second ribbon, but not the first, for which you DO need to mine some ore, unload and sell, mine, unload/sell, etc. until you do get 500cu total.

and yet an other week of small update's.....
Please tell me that Miharu misupdated VO-Wiki... It's not /really/ 15,000 cu for the second level badge, is it?
It is.
Anyone have the new mining "gun" stats?
Check the wiki.
Also, nobody else thinks that 500 -> 15000 is a bit of a steep incline?

Mskanaka, that's not the way it's supposed to work.
you should be able to do what you're trying to do.
you should be able to do what you're trying to do.
15000 is only 125 moths. That's not so bad.
It lets you know the guy you're looking at is a MINER, not someone who casually mined a little rocks for boredom and cash.
I like steep inclines like that. It makes the badge worth something. Not like the first "Trader" badge, that means exactly nothing and everyone has it :)

Ray: It is still what happened. I stockpiled 600cu of freshly-mined, post-update ore, and sold it all at once. I didn't get the medal until after mining and selling (immediately after docking) four more mothloads of ore. I should have 1080cu total mined for the level 2 ribbon, but I barely have over 500cu listed, so I think there are two problems:
- the first ribbon actually requires that you sell the ore immediately after docking. If you undock, it seems to think that the ore you just unloaded doesn't exist.
- the ribbon does its counting odd after you get the first one; given that for some reason that the "you have N crates left to mine for the next level" thing says I have about 14442 crates left, and I only unloaded and sold in units of 120 crates, I think this is definitely some hidden behavior of the ribbon that is malfunctioning (or undocumented for the players).

ok. I checked out your character's stats and it shows 548 for basicminer. However, you have a much higher mined/sold values. I'll have to figure out what's going on.
Trading ribbons? Mining ribbons? WHH is going on? Please don't tell me the devs gave in to the care bear faction? And where the hell is my explore addon already?
[/kidding]
But the explore addon is not needed right now, what is is a hidden worm hole or two, more than corvus! And NPC's should try to nuke you as you dock...
...Believe it or not, I've had more fun sector 10 station camped, than I have in the current game, sure I got pissed off, but I did not leave and I am still here.

Care-bears are ftw right now, Yodar. Best get to n00bing ASAP.
I hope this game isn't becoming "Ribbons Online"
Accomplishment ribbons are well and good, but if that's all there is to strive for.... meh. I hope some of the other planned content is ready soon, because 4 weeks of ribbons updates doesn't feel like much of an addition to the game.

Impavid: these are the proverbial "low-hanging fruit" that Incarnate often talks about. They're not big things, but they're easy to just grab and do them on the fly while working on something larger.
Ray: Thanks, I'll let you know if I run across any more problems.

I know, what if ribbons were nukular? You could have a ribbon-launcher, and the ribbons were ammo. The higher level the ribbon, the bigger the nuke! Of course, if you run out of ammo, you have to earn your nukular ribbons again.
