Complaint about dev/guide action

Apr 06, 2007 Omnicyber link
I would like to know why a guide or dev promoted the newly returned Max Delco character to Commander of BDC and placed our real (though inactive) commander as a member *without* consulting the active counsel members (namely myself and norbid).

I hope the same guide or dev does not further violate guild guidelines by appointing new councilmembers or otherwise circumventing the required unanimous vote of the four remaining council members (I was one of five and I quit in disgust at your actions).

The only other [edit]active[/edit] councilmember and I were in the process of trying to contact other councilmembers and the commander in an effort to rebuild the guild. Let me assure you we would never have appointed Max Delco as anything other than janitor. First official action of a rebuilt council would've been his demotion.

Since you've screwed that up just - stay out of it and let BDC die if the stated conditions in the guild guidelines aren't met.

Sincerely,
Omni Vorcyber
ex-councilmember BDC

I made the change in response to a request made HERE:

http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/7/9899?page=2

The request was made in the appropriate public forum thread and in the usual manner. I follow that forum closely and try to provide a quick turnaround time for any reasonable request. As I don't have a handy way of seeing which alt belongs to which account, it quickly becomes impossible for me to be certain that I have the approval of each guild member. I have no way of contacting you directly. Unfortunately, I have to rely on the honesty and vigilance of the community.

You needn't have quit in disgust. You could simply have looked in that thread and posted that the change was unapproved. I would have changed things back immediately had I known that there was an issue.

Lastly, I'll remind you that I provide this service as a volunteer. If you're going to be rude - it's not worth it to me.

With four council members, it'll disband within 48 hours anyway.

Understood, and thank you for your prompt response. If I'd have known about that thread I'd have posted there - my mistake.

However, what's done is done.

I understand the difficulty of contacting each and every guild member but I would have hoped that there was some mechanism by which the council members at least could be notified, especially in a case as drastic as a person requesting self promotion to commander.

[Edit]
Let me formally apologize for my tone. I was angry but did not mean to be rude to you.

I appreciate your reply and accept your apology.

There truly is no mechanism by which council members could be notified. This was quite a drastic case, if what you say is true.

The best I can do in the future is to ask that the poster have council members post their approval in the same thread. There are countless ways in which this would be inadequate or obstructive, of course.

Eeek, I blaime myself for this, its different when you acually used to be a CO and are rping back into the guild...

...I guess guides email addresses being known would be cool >.>

The guild's MOTD could have been changed to notify the members of the action. However, I can't remember if guides have access to change that or if it's just us devs.

Whistler, are you able to do that?

Adding an in-game email system would be nice.

I went LOA for personal reason and I do not have to responds to Omni yells... Email would be nice.....

I am only trying to help BDC....and Omni for peep sake if you want the job fine.....take it...I already said that to you....and damn you know I was going to request it.

Still I having social problems when my sister was in hospital and my current job level is also low...So I had no money to pay for an other month... So I was more pissed off hearing that Omni left because he did not approve of this?

Come on I been the XO of this Guild when Ippo took control.... I never saw this action coming.....

But If needed and if the devs agreed on 'Omini' Complain....I'll step down....and BDC will then die.....Omni can be happy then

Signed

Max Delco

Being able to get and receive messages through the forum would be a helpful to this too. Then Whistler could just send a forum PM (maybe that even pops up like a buddy message in game?) alerting the members to the change.

Alright.....To keep it 'for real' I am now docked at Sky Command to place my resign papers in and the badge and uniform as BDC commander.

I don't wish BDC to die like this.....but.......It can always be rebuild in the future.

Signing off as Colonel Delco ex Commander over BDC

I don't want this crap in my gameplay as I am doing it for fun not for fights like this

Ray: I actually did change the MoD to state that the Commander had changed to Max Delco. I guess I could have directed people to the RP forum for comment.

SCAR X, founding members count differently than appointed members. It's something I noticed that, a guild that has say one guy and 9 alts creates a guild. He kicks them out one by one until he is left. The guild won't disband because founding members don't seem to count for the number.
