Moldy, you sorta forgot about what matters here: not what was said, but what was done to post it.

So far as I can tell, it's a "line" that has never been crossed before, and for good reason: hacking the game in any way (here, faking an account name) is never to be tolerated. Why you do it or what you use it to do is irrelevant.

No hacking was done. It's just a stupid code loophole.

Just a "code loophole"? Uh, you and I may define that vague term 'hacking' rather differently.

Try this instead: name a time where someone has, ever, forged someone else's VO account as done here. You can't. Nobody has ever made it look to all forum readers as if someone had posted something they hadn't. This isn't like my posting something as 'moIdyman'. If you can't see why that might be, you need to step back from your code loopholes and think hard for a minute (maybe longer, in your case).

If I'd used a "code loophole" to log in and spam 100 with insults as a red text name that read "Incarnate"... you can bet your ass I'd be banned for life. How, exactly, is this different?

That's abusing an exploit, not hacking. But then again, when an exploit crops up in VO, it's usually closed and that's the end of it eh...?

I've left whatever fued was happening behind long ago, along with personal attacks on the people involved. As with moldy, I apologize for letting things in the past get so far out of hand. It began as RP, and escalated too far.

That said, it IS in the past.

The RP threads I post are just that, and have never personally or viciously attacked anyone. They are clearly satire.

This recent incident was completely unprovoked, without warrent, and hacked to look like it had come from me. It's not "just a stupid code loophole", it's an intentional and targeted violation. Exploit or not, it crosses the boundry between RP and real life personal conflict into the territory of gross violation of the TOS and possibly the law. As Scar X said, what was said is ultimately irrelevant. The means used to say it are at issue. It is for utilizing those means that the player(s) responsible should be punished.

Well, I'm glad to hear that everyone is willing to apologize, let things go and move on. We are aware of the exploit, all the people involved, and are dealing with it on our own terms.. including fixing the website bug that made this possible. If one goes back further than this incident, there are more than enough policy violations to go around, so let's just put things to rest and move on, ok?
