"What are you going to do? Bleed on me?!"
"I'm INVINCIBLE!"
"I'm INVINCIBLE!"
If players could only set their home station to Capital Sectors, then death would mean a deal more, methinks. Consider this quote from Dune, "Between depriving a man of one hour from his life and depriving him of his life there exists only a difference of degree. You have done violence to him, consumed his energy". As it stands, repairing usually takes more time than just flying anew from your home station. If defeat gaurunteed a trip longer than victory, it would start to mean something. Of course, that might call for the redrawing of some borders to be strictly fair.
Rather than going that far, it could be limited to barracks AND capitol stations. What business does a mining, research, or commercial station have being a base of operations, after all.
Deneb would thus remain the place to go for high-intensity combat, since both sides have a nearby barracks, while everywhere else, other than Odia, maybe Verasi, would discourage spontaneous combat.
Goodbye speedy purchase of RevCs ;_;

Problem with this thread is, none of the newbs find it. What could we do to ensure that they do? Show it every login like the licensing agreement? :P
Just yell the number at them on 100.
Nube: "How do I load a mining beam...Dude, WTF?? I was typing and you blew me up!
VO: "II and X!"

Dude, Aramarth, if you wanted someone to be a condescending and self-righteous prick to you back in the day, you should have come to me! I could've hooked you up with someone...
Would have made my space days SO much easier.

Or maybe just 'certified' recovery stations or something. Most systems seem to have a barracks in them somewhere.
VI. is totally wrong. Death bloody matters. In fact, in time, you will find that it is all about stats. Stats. And more stats.
Wish somebody don't go about spreading lies like these.

Um, you just defeated your own point. Death does in fact not matter. Stats are far too numerous for any individual fight to make the difference. When was the last time someone threw it in anyone's face about ONE fight? Never. Beat me once, doesn't matter. Beat me every time, that'll show up in stats. Death in a single fight means nothing.
Further, there are dozens of people whom I can beat any day of the week who have more pks than me. Thus, stats don't really even matter. See point VII.

Knowing softy... I think that was supposed to be doused in sarcasm before reading.
mostly everyone agrees with VI.

Just a few pints MB ;)
Anyway, Aramarth, here is a break down of your statement :
Um, you just defeated your own point : Okay....let's see why...
Death does in fact not matter : Restatement, no content, let's carry on...
Stats are far too numerous for any individual fight to make the difference : Uh oh, there's some content here. "Stats", by definition, is the accumulation of *many* data points, i.e. many many fights. So this statement of yours actually is non-sequitur.
When was the last time someone threw it in anyone's face about ONE fight? Never*. Beat me once, doesn't matter. Beat me every time, that'll show up in stats. Death in a single fight means nothing. : Err, are you saying that VI should be restated as "Death in a single fight does not matter, but deaths in many many fights do?" Then, you just proven my point. Thank you!
Thus, stats don't really even matter. : But they do! And that's my point.
* by the way, there are plenty of people who would threw it in on the basis of one fight though, but that's an aside.

Ah yes, my most sincere apologies for not taking the extra time to make the wording airtight enough for your personal taste. You're right, this is all about you, and I'm oh so happy to take time out of my college course load and personal regimen in preparation for deployment to fix it for you. I'll even try to find a way to log onto this forum from over there in case you find something else less than satisfactory.
See if the new wording is good enough, oh great one.

Ah, that's more like it!
