Roguelazer you FIEND! Haha Good One.
I had an elaborate plan for a 2.0 April Fools joke, but it probably would have required some dev help, and more time than I had available.
It would have involved a scripted group of bots set to follow a pre-planned path through an asteroid field, with a player in a ship starting from the opposite end of the field. A "camera" player would be flying a few hundred meters off the right wing of the player, recording the action. Movement for the player and bots would be restricted to vertical strafing and forward movement. The player would navigate the asteroid field in this way, encountering the bots and destroying them (weapons and bot stats would be chosen to make this possible without having to turn around). At the end of the field, the player stops, and a large ship of some type (probably a queen or a Teradon, sans shields) enters in front of the player, and starts flying a fixed pattern while attacking. Once the ship is destroyed, the player's ship turbos out of the camera's view. The player would likely die a few times, and restart from a point near where they died to continue the sequence.
Then, we cut this footage together with an altered login screen, some added sound effects and some 8-bit Gradius background music. We then present it (ideally in a news post from Incarnate) as a demo reel of the Soon To Be Released "Vendetta 2.0", a massively single-player space shooter adventure.

Heh, Id expect something like that on the main VO site...
I had a pretty elaborate prank planned too, but since the webserver I was using went down, I couldn't go through with it... oh well, maybe next year.
Another hacked news ticker would be a welcome april fools day present though.
