I know it's fun to "craft" stuff, but you can also buy ones that look a little less hoopty.
CH makes some great pedals, a little pricey but a lot less hoopty.

150 bucks plus shipping ouch thats 5 times what these cost i dont care if they look a little strange if they work and save me a months beer money

The real benefit is that the retail ones are a sigle unit, and LNH's are not. I couldn't use a single unit set, since I need to place the pedals on either side of my subwoofer. Other gaming cabinet restrictions may apply.

They really need to make a nice pair of rudder pedals that aren't connected together so you can space and mount them how you like.
