What direction are the mining and trade concepts moving?

Mar 13, 2007 Albadar link
I am specifically interested in the ability to mine an entire asteriod (all the minerals removed) at one time. A ship with the ability to "fabricate" small units. Maybe the ability to customize a ship to have both. And more. Will this become a posibility? Or am I just dreaming?
As for trade, how far will the game let you go? Can I negotiate for technologies and then build them? Are technologies available for the units?

Yeah, that's a good thread to start with. Go get a cup of coffee and a biscuit, it's a long read.

Moving?

Hahahahahaha.

So these are just concepts... nothing actually "moving" into the game? [ Smiles at Dr.Lecter ] So right now, Minimal customization, No abililities to produce, No prurchasing of even the basic technoligies. And custom ship design is definately out!
Basically its just a kill game. Drat! I was SO hoping for more.
Still Hoping.....

Yeah Thats what I got from what I read too.
We can only hope....

Well, the 4 developers are doing their best to fix/add a number of things, and those probably aren't at the top of the list, but at least some form of them will come in time ;)

Yea, the name 'vendetta' promises SO MUCH in terms of boring point-click-produce-nothing functionality!

You customize your ship by purchasing the weapons and outfitting them into the ship, different weapons have different benefits/drawbacks.

As do different ships, plus you have to take your play-style into account, are you a "shoot em, and so what if I get hit a few times" kinda person? pick a heavy combat ship, like a rag, or a prometheus, with some super-heavy loadout weps like plasma devastators, or gauss cannons.

Or perhaps you lean towards the agile and light tactics.. dodge as much as you can, and make your enemy miss you.

In that case, choose a manueverable light fighter, like a centurian, or vulture.

Maybe you lie somewhere in the middle, you want more firepower than the cent or vult, but still want to retain some semblance of manueverabiltiy.. Check the medium fighter offerings like marauder, or the valkyrie, or warthog.

Or perhaps running away is more your style? Get the fastest, most heavily armored ship you can find, put the least amount of mass you can into it. dodge shots while running for open space, hoping to lose your attacker before he can kill you.

We've had a number of big development setbacks, but we're still moving forward, and our goals are still fundamentally the same. Regardless of Lecter's sarcasm.

Oh, I was being pretty serious there. Were I being sarcastic, I'd have said that Kourier would fix all the issues of the OP.

[Edit]Awww, was that Kourier crack below the belt? Or is Whistler in a hissy fit?[/Edit]

Ah, I see. Hissy fit it is.
