Actually Cunjo, I seem to remember the devs saying that there actually exist thrust numbers for every direction, so they could conceivably make a ship with very high forward thrust and negligible sideways/up/down thrust, which would provide it with high acceleration, but low amounts of the strafing maneuverability that would make it combat-worthy.

roguelazer and Cunjo, that's exactly what I mean. A series of ships, from small to very large, that are stripped of everything but cargo space, armor and a big engine on the back. They would have extremely high forward thrust (I don't like the idea of maximum speed, but I think it should be harder and harder to accelerate; maybe a very high asymtotic max speed), and just the bare minimum maneuvering and reverse thrusters. Maybe it would take anywhere from eight seconds (small ships) to thirty seconds (very large ships) to spin 180° with a full load. These ships would accelerate fairly well when empty, allowing them to reach a start point to a cargo run fairly quickly and possibly escape slower predators. A full load of cargo, however, would significantly weigh it down, making it a sitting duck unless escorted. There should be a maximum of one to two guns (depending on ship size) on these ships, only turrets. Maybe the ports for the turrets can have the option of either offering a weak shield or a turret. These ships, especially the big ones, would require escorts to be useful, but should turn enough of a profit to pay those escorts.

I know, now this is a suggestion thread, but oh well.

The XC is a great ship for insystem trading, not for regular trading and much less for when pirates are around. Don't change a thing on it.

since i got this version it has updated 2 more times....

are these quick patches or is the downloader being stupid
