... back to the more important matter at hand: will the intended recipients of the coupon make use of the offer?

"Liddy, only devs can get beer according to his coupon. However, the face cash value is not likewise restricted. But I hadn't considered the printing press and news-pulp option; maybe I could actually turn a profit! ;)" He only said one beer per developer, he failed to specify that ONLY the developers could receive said beers.

leber any bars in your area have Guinness pints for under 5 bucks?

Liddy: an interesting reading of the text "redeemable for one (1) beer per Guild Software Developer". A court would face a clear textual ambiguity here, with two very distinct meanings: either Leber meant to offer 1 beer to each Dev, or, 1 beer per Dev to each coupon bearer. Unlike vagueness, which tends to allow courts to ignore the writing and make up what meaning they think best ex post, ambiguity is resolved in favor of one meaning of the text. With these two choices, the context clearly militates towards the former meaning. So, if I showed up and demanded four beers per coupon (assuming there's actually 4 Devs; the term Guild Software Developer is left undefined)... I doubt he'd be forced to honor that :)

As for Guinness, my favorite Charlottesville watering hole has pints for under $4... surely the middle of nowhere (a.k.a. Milwaukee) has them for that or less.

in my area even the cheapest place in town has 5.50 Guinness draughts, not pints but draughts, though they have $1 Yeungling Lager pints.

On a side note when I was down in the florida keys the other week i found that almost every single bar had Yeungling Lager on tap. Rather surprising since it is brewed in pottville PA and not generally well known outside of eastern pa and southern jersey. After a bit of reading i found they used to have a brewery in st.petersburg florida so I guess they ended up with a decent following in the area.

That's "Pottsville, PA."

We got stuff here that's BETTER than Guinness, but yeah you can get it here easily for under US$5 a pint.

Well, except at Summerfest, when they charge $4 for Bud Light, which should be a crime, Lecter look into this, would ya?

Sorry, talk to yer local bottom-feed..., uh, I mean, prosecutor. I'll be the guy across the table who's explaining why the Corporation behind the horrendous and probably monopolistic overcharge is entitled to it ;)

And what the Hell is better than Guinness? Aside from good scotch and Yquem.

Old Grand Dad Bourbon is better than Guinness. Also Jagermeister, Yukon Jack and, Blackhaus are quite good too.

Plenty.

Jagermeister? It wouldn't call it "good". It's handy for replacing that "I've been out all night and a family of gnomes has crawled in my mouth and died after succumbing to a violent bout of intestinal parasite affliction" taste with a "I'm pretending I've hit rock bottom and have been reduced to getting high off cough medicine" taste.

I love Guinness, but I had a Hangtown Vanilla Stout once that was amazing. They don't make it anymore, naturally, so you can't try it and argue. Feel free to ridicule the very idea of flavored stouts, however.

Never thought of jager as tasting like caugh medicin just licorice (its rumored that it contains deer blood too). Red bull however wich is commonley mixed with jager does taste like rubotussin. actually ive found the jager's licorice flavor mixes well with yukon jack's citrusey vanilla flavor.

well, i personally like to mix No Fear with Crown Royal and some OJ. That my friends is a fun mix. I don't recommend it unless you are really, really desperate.

"though they have $1 Yeungling Lager pints. "

Seriously??? I love Yeungling....

Yea, here in FL, Yeungling is quite popular, though I have yet to go to a bar to get it on tap... I just buy it by the pack, the way I buy all my alcohol... typically a lot cheaper than buying it at a bar... but $1 a pint???

EDIT: O yea, I found Jager goes well with Birch Beer or Sasparilla. Try it sometime.

Miharu gave me her coupon, so I'll take 8 beers if you please. Also I've met 6 of the developers in the credits, does this entitle me to 12?
Feb 24, 2007 LeberMac link
If you drag yer ass to Milwaukee I'll buy you a beer or 12, Katarn.

yes cunjo 1 dollar pints there is one place that has them for 75cents on friday for happyhour.

As a long-time Yeungling drinker and PA resident, it is good to see an old-time brewery doing well-enough that it now sells its product in FL.

Holy crap, I'm movin in with liddy sos I can enjoy the 75¢ PINT tappers. I'd never leave the bar. I'd live off pulltabs, cheap pints and pork rinds.

you REALLY don't want to do that. My place looks about like your office in [itan] hq, empty bottles stacked up everywhere 5 year old paperwork in stacks 3 foot tall (god help me if i ever get audited), and other miscellaneous junk that i really should throw out (ie: right next to me theres a light bar i ripped off a police car duct taped to the wall). The only redeeming quality of my place is i can shoot deer from the master bathroom window and i can do whatever i want without being bothered.
