Well, when can we?
/me runs for cover
And on a related note, when can we build our own stations?
We could fly them Soon™.
But now it's just Soon©.

They'll be available when A) capships stop acting like idiots and running into everything, B) the interface is ready, C) there's relevant gameplay to actually *using* capships (ie, something other than "wow, look at me, I'm flying a capship.. hmm, what now?"). We took a step towards "C" the other week when we made it possible to rearm and repair onboard caps. We're getting there.
Fixing the deliverator mess, and some other big projects (friendly fire, factions) have current priority. Capships would be shiny and neat, but really not as.. useful.
Also, my redoing sectors by hand is also relevant, since we're moving towards making capship "anchorages" near stations, to reduce problems with "A" and simplify traffic issues.

Way to go! I'll be waiting.
Maybe muterman didn't want to know much more than that...

Ooo, a developer answered, nice. That's cool, I like that, but is there any kind of time frame? Soon is relative. Like, can we figure a couple months, or a couple years?
Might be an idea just to park a few connies at a major stations so folk can have a look at the shape of things to come .....

The relativity of the term 'soon' is a feature, not a bug, muterman.

The sad thing is that he's dead serious there.

But I like shiny and neat.
I think bot capships will introduce a frisson of excitement.
Also, possibly only allow the Guilds outside of the Nations to own them.
If a capship could take out a station, and the station takes days to respawn, you could have a proper system wide conflict with politics, strategy and alliances.
Mmmm nice.

Mmmm nice.
If a COUPLE of capships.
1 Capship should have a tiny chance of taking out a station.

What with bomber/fighter squadrons and all.
How much should a capship cost ?
The more members of the guild, the greater kitty to buy them.
Some could become pilots based in capships, while others trade/mine to make money for ships/weapons etc.
Guilds could tax members, the lower the tax, the happier the guild member, therefore, to keep up with more rapicious Guilds, you would have to recruit more members.
How about capships having their own bots, they could work in the same way bots work for the Hive Queens.
They would have different roles, protectors, like those around the stations.
Miners, transports and guardians like those in the asteroid fields, and hunters, that could be directed to endlessly hunt for other players/bots/capships as directed.
They could be upgraded and built up in the same fashion a player can.
How about Bot wingmen, role determined by simple keypress.
I could go on forever.

No offense, but if you want to go on forever, kindly go to the Suggestions forum, look up one of the capships thread (and one of the stations thread while you're at it), read up all that's been said, and then add your two cents. That way all ideas are collected where the Devs can find them easier, and you can see what has already been discussed.
capships should not be owned privately they should be so expensive that only guilds have the resourses and the money to get them and and only the guild officer's should fly them the guild members take the turrets and the light fighters its that simple when no one is fling it it can just stay where it was left until the officer comes backor something like that you get the point
spidey, what jex said applies to you, too.
What applies to spidey, and Threlly applys to jex too.
Obviously, he should post his suggestion about people posting there suggestions on the suggestion fourms. After reading the list, then you can add in your thoughts, jex. It makes it easier for the devs to read if you have it compliled there.
