nicely up to 7000 creds and what happens ?...a feckin ion storm leaves me with no ship,no creds and well pithed off.

there should be some leeway given to new players as this put me right off playing it again.

that happens alot when you just start playing. just get the free ship and get some money by trading or mining and you will be back to where you were in no time

Go to Sedina or Odia to get a Centaur with no license requirements. Don't whine if you die often (or rather, you'll get laughed at if you do whine); Grey Space is FFA, i.e. shoot first, ask questions later.
