ok, heres the story, i accidently renamed the 10kbit torrent file to a .exe and ran it, then i realised my mistake and tried renaming the other, but it wouldnt do it with 2 of the same names on desktop, so i tried deleting the 10kbit one i renamed BUT it says it is being used by another program, and what that is I HAVE NO EARTHLY IDEA!! ive restarted 5 times already and still no effect. if y'all could point me to a program that can delete this file for me id much appreciate it. i havent tried this game but ive played jumpgate for years and id like to try this one PLS HELP!

i have also posted this in the windows forum, posted here for quicker result

I didn't really understand your story, but I'll try to help. You shouldn't need to rename anything, just double click the file that was downloaded. The .torrent file itself is just some information a bittorrent client can use to download the real file (which is called VendettaOnlineSetup.exe). If you didn't use a bittorrent client, I'd recommend that you just download the more usual way with this link:
http://mirror.cle.vendetta-online.com/VendettaOnlineSetup.exe

If you did download the 130 meg file one way or other, then you should be able to just run it, no renaming necessary. If you need any more help, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

im going to try to download it the normal way. now, when i did use utorrent i downloaded the entire thing, but it will not open (brings up the run program using...box) that what led me to rename the other file, vendettaonlinesetup.exe.torrent, it turned into a dos exe and i ran it, gave me an error message c:\docume~1\owner\desktop\vendet~1.exe
the ntvdm cpu has encountered an illegal instruction
cs:0554 IP:0109 OP:63 65 34 38 3a choose close to terminate the application.
now, instead of being a good boy and pressing close, i pressed ignore 3 times, lol. now, this little executable will not delete from my desktop and i do not know why.

Ah, I think I understand now. I can't imagine why the file that utorrent downloaded wouldn't have executed, but the the one you're downloading now should be fine, and I'll look into it. The reason the other file won't go away is probably that it's 'in use' by utorrent. If all else fails, try booting into safe mode and deleting it.

i have tried everything in my handbook as far as deleting this file, but nothing seems to work, not safe mode, not going into msconfig and doing a diag. startup, not even a registry scanner has been able to pick it up. its like the computer thinks that it is running but in all actuality it is not. to be honest its stumping the hell out of me. but since i am on dialup, the regular install wont be done till prolly early morning, so ill check back then, but all the information you can give me on deleting that exe would be very helpful, i hate not having "complete" control over my pc, lol.

I just downloaded the windows client using utorrent on my gf's windows box; it executed fine. What version of Windows do you have? To be sure you tried running the right file: could you right click on it in utorrent and click "open containing folder"- there should be a vendettaonlinesetup.exe there. Am I to understand that you double-clicked that and it resulted in an open-with dialog?

i downloaded it using utorrent on the comps they have at the library here (t3 MAHA!) i think it may have been a glitch there that caused the bug in the actual setup. ill try those links you gave me and get back to you
