The average number of people online fluctuates between 20 and 30 most times, but on weekends it can shoot up to 40 or 50.
If this is a "I don't wanna join unless there are TONS of players playing at any given time" argument, stop and catch yourself before you make a big logic error.
If a thousand potential players say "your community isn't big enough for me to join you", the community will never get big. People have to be willing to just jump in and make do with what we have right now. The best way at the moment to directly add people to the userbase is to tell your friends about it and to help them get started.
Even so, VO's lack of a large active playerbase is made up for by the overall helpfulness and patience of the community. Sure, we have our griefers and newbie-killers, but they're few and far between, and most people will point out who they are right away for you if you ask.
Some of the people ingame will tell you when you first start out that you need to take the tutorials before they'll give help, but don't be put off by that--it's just that most questions a new player would ask are answered in those tutorials.
In the meantime, welcome to VO. Hope you choose to stick around. ;)

LittleEd,
be a leader, not a follower. the only time i'll agree right away with miharu, is in this case. most of the time she says something completely wrong, and i have to point out all the variables that she missed.
back to topic. set the pace for our numbers, if you and others like you wait for others to do so, you wont be back for years.
this IS the only game like this. an MMOFPSRPG twich. your skills determine how good you are.. not some roll of an imaginay die. show us what you are made of, bring your friends, and show them what you are made of.
stick around for a month, within that month you should have had an opportunity to check out some of the USER-EVENTS. such as Last Man Standing, the Deneb Run, that thing that TGFT does about mining.... and most importantly, the Nation War. all of these are hosted by the users, not the devs. there's a community for you.
last but not least, dont be a sheep.. there are enough of those in CDC/SSC/TGFT already....

I just wanted to be sure I would have someone to play with. If I don't stay it prob wont have to do with the number of players (But that is a possibility because I work 10 PM to 6AM EST time. And I am not sure how many people are on during my play times. Well lets see what happens.
Yeah, sorry we can't all be pseudo pirates, Doak.
...And I thought the Diuturnal Nomad Dwarfers had all the sheep?
Thanks, CNH. Now I will be horribly scarred until I go to sleep.
It's not that they HAVE the sheep, it's what they've trained the sheep to do...
hahahaha...
as for psuedopirate, it's a new thing for me. and it's not so much of extortion, just a quick missle-spamming.

1) I was unaware TGFT still did the Mining Event.
2) There's also CDC's Flag Raid.
3) The Nation War event was started by moldyman, who's CDC.
4) Any publicity is good publicity.
5) Player numbers have been a bit higher of late, at least when I've checked.
6) Stick around and play, however you like. Just play.

Stop trolling Jex.
Trolling?
Prove me wrong on any of the points I made.

Number 4 perhaps? Right now the game isn't ready for the kind of publicity that WoW gets (as you should know).
Ah... I was too vague on that point. It was in regards to DrDoak's opinion on the CDC, SSC, and TGFT; he might be bashing us, but he is also advertising for us. Anyway, I apologize for the confusion.
geez.
you make one comment about sheep, and the world falls apart.

It's not a logical error. Games without people are boring. Especially a game like Vendetta that is very PvP oriented - without players to play against, it's boring. A true statement.
Your assertion that the community will never grow with this attitude is of course true, but it does not make the attitude invalid, nor does it highlight this attitude as the true issue keeping people from flooding Vendetta. There are numerous issues that cause this, so I don't mean to simplify here, but a big one is that the game's design appears very player-interaction oriented. It therefore lacks the depth of PvE and random environmental content that keeps people coming back in other MMOs. Without that hook to build critical mass, you'll never get the number of players necessary to make this game fun.
A good example of this actually happening is EVE: a boring game, to be sure, but it had enough content to keep people playing to develop the huge corporations and wars that make it so popular. Vendetta never had that. There were 100 users online back when the new universe appeared, but they quickly dwindled away because there was nothing to do aside from fight other people. The amount of effort one must put into Vendetta to make it fun is far more than the amount of effort needed in other games, and so the average gamer tries it for a bit and then walks away.
This is, again, just one issue, and one that won't go away overnight. The devs labor on the game and are doing the best they can, but what they need is a significant injection of content. Their situation is such that they cannot create that injection, so I think the game will always remain niche.
That's not necessarily a bad thing (well, it is for the dev's wallets), but don't deceive yourself. This game has a low player base because it lacks the environmental hook to keep people playing. I would also watch what you wish for - the closeness of this community would be destroyed by a large player base, and I don't know how much everyone values that.
