Seeing as one pays for this game in PayPal, which I am not familiar with, is there any way to make a subscription a single month by cancelling it?

I'd like to try (other than the trial) this game, and I need a break from w...w...w...w...World of Warcraft...

You don't have to pay with PayPal. You can use a normal credit card on the in-house system, and then cancel once the billing goes through (wait a couple of business days). The account will stay active for the remainder of the paid time.
