New pilot soon to be fledged

Dec 18, 2006 DigitalScream link
Hello to the board. I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself as a soon to be pilot. I have just downloaded the client this weekend and will be entering space soon. (holidays make it tough to nail down play time)

My mmo experience began with Earth and Beyond (though my online gaming exp started with muds/mushs/moos way back when). The list of mmo's include WoW, SWG, E&B, CoH/CoV, and Eve.

My space flight games include X-wing, Tie, X vs Tie, Freespace, Eve and SWG-JTL. To tell the truth I've been dying to find a space game that could live up to my imagination. I've look at trying Jumpgate, Infinity (in dev but looks promising), and Vendetta. As you can see, I chose Vendetta to test out first. Here's hopeing for the best.

As for me, I am a {age>25} engineer/computer scientist, casual gamer, old school rpg'er, martial artist, and all around geek/nerd (which ever you prefer). Hi to all. See you in space.

Welcome!

Three simple things will ensure your instant integration into the community:

1) See this thread: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/7692

2) Be aware that we have veterans (including the development team) of many MMOs and that we are aware of the comparisons. Vendetta isn't trying to be any other MMO. Elegant solutions pioneered elsewhere are welcome here, however.

3) While Vendetta has been released for pay-to-play, it is (and always will be) under development. New things will be introduced (along with the occasional bug) and gameplay will undergo subtle changes. If the possibilities excite you, then you have found a permanent home. If you are frustrated by change, then you might not be a happy camper.

Thanks for the welcome all.

I am all for growth and development. One of the things that caught my attention was the response forum members seemed to get from the developers. As a fledgling developer myself we try to accomodate our users requests as much as possible (keeping in mind that they may not always know what they realy want :).)

I tend to play for entertainment. If the game is fun to play and I seem to loose track of time playing it then I concider it a good/great game. I'm not a "power gamer" and not supper experienced in PVP (though I try and sometimes win) I look for enjoyment not a slog fest.

Anyway, thanks again. I look forward to playing. Oh, I'll check out the mentioned thread. It looks interesting.

Hey, Whistler, is it possible to make that thread title (Please Read Prior to Posting a Suggestion) RED or something? Or - make it like a EULA that you have to agree to before posting in the Suggestions forum? Hehe.

We look forward to feasting upon your liver, with some truffles and a nice d'Yquem.

Hello fledgling pilot!

Felicitations on your find. I feel this fun game is a bit furtive, and for quite a few folk, far from obvious, so few ever familiarize themselves with its full-featured fun. For all that, this is, frankly, a fantastic game, full of friendly, flippant, factious and fictitious folk.

I hope that you figure out the finer facets of flight without much infuriating confusion and find yourself, if not a fully-fledged "veteran," then at least a feathered fighter or a fecund trader.

Best wishes!

It kinda sounds like you all have had many new players complain about the state of the game. I only mention this because of the number of posts that mention rough edges, under development, etc. in this thread.

I'm not much of a complainer so don't expect that kind of post from me. (ok, well as long as VO doesn't do SWG NGE to me ;) ) Hehe, joking, anyway I am still setting (re-setting) up my home computer (I'm at work doh) so I haven't had much time to try it out yet.

Have a great holiday and I'll probably see ya in the new year.

With the four devs we've got, a snowball's got a better chance in hell than that does of happening ;)
