New Hive Research missions.

Well the new missions at corvus stations......

Me and Daggoth stayed up late killing queens for many hours. After finally obtaining many, many queen cores, we both had enough to complete the mission. Reward was a reasonable ammount of credits (by reasonable I mean compared to other missions, for the amount of killing 2 people had to do for this I felt ripped off :( ), and 2 secret corvus weapons (not posting stats so you can all find out the hard way :), but the name alone made the mission almost worth it, the Corvus Widowmaker ).

Some quick notes,

Killing queens solo is a lot easier then people think. A couple of rag combiniations make taking down the shields a trivial task. I won't say more so that people don't abuse this too much, but Incarnate you might wanna check the shield stats again.

I was at 52 queens when I started, I'm at 68 now :) I was expecting something on the order of an avalon for this, I was somewhat disappointed :( Incarnate, did you test this mission with your avalon launcher? If so you should probably try with player usable weapons ;)

Making the mission end after the pilot dies seems like a good idea but you can just collect the queen cores and start the mission once you have all of them. I can't imagine anyone trying this any other way, since it's an obscene number of queens to kill without getting killed to lag, or the queen explosion :(

I would be mighty pissed if I lost all those cores trying to do this mission without dieing ;(

I did the mission, it's no longer available. What am I to do now? Sort of like the XangXi mission, which I can no longer do. I'm afraid to use these new weapons since I can't get them again.

I'll post more if I find anything else. Off to solo a levi ;) later all.

Yeah, Queen shields now fall a little too fast. Of course, then you find yourself in an improper setup to take the Queen down really fast (them all-posi hogs eat them up in under 2 minutes, IIRC), but still, it's almost as fast as before. On the other hand, I can see how slaving over finding Queens (most of the time of a Queenhunt is actually looking for one) just to get a shiny gun as reward is something of a letdown, specially if you're just given a gun, as opposed to a license to keep buying them, like the megaposis.

Please give me more than a neutIII with a shiny new name for killing this many queens.

2 of use tried to take down a levi, we had limited succes (dropping the shields to about 1/3 of capacity. Then the craziest thing happened, the levi started rolling and strafing. Is this normal?

Yes.

And SWEET! ANOTHER mission that takes forever just to get not access to but just two guns! *dances crazily*

Seriously, this isn't funny.

I answered the rewards issue in this thread, as best I could:

http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/15504

There is never going to be enough shiny new stuff in the game for me to give people for every single mission, but I'm hoping opening up new gameplay will be worthwhile.

I also wasn't totally sure how difficult and time consuming the mission would be.. you guys tend to be very good at finding ways of using the AI against itself, or discovering unforseen shortcuts. Plus, I did say in-game last night when I launched the mission that it was untested and I needed feedback. So, don't jump to too many conclusions on a mission tree that's unfinished and a single mission that may still need work.

Incarnate. I would suggest lowering the new mission requirements to 1xqueen defensive matrix + 5xqueen processor core, and removing the 'mission ends with death of player'.

Though please read the post I made on the other thread first. Requirements should be based on the rewards of the complete mission tree as well as individual missions so when the next mission on this tree is opened up I may end up thinking these requirements should change again :(

A mission tree outline would help in deciding what to make mission requirements a great deal.

Also, is there anyway of posting a forum suggestion that only the devs can read? This way it would make it easier to disclose those AI exploits without making the mission too easy for everyone that reads the forum.

drazed, there is no complete mission tree, and there never will be. given sections are contiguous, and I do take into account rewards across the missions (usually 2-4) that I'm planning right then. But lots of other missions may build off of my accomplishment flags down the road (or even, next week). So.. yeah. Anyway, I'm basically repeating what I wrote in the other thread, so I'll just assume we'll continue discussing this there.

As for disclosing exploits, that can be done with the bug reporter application, the website bug reporting CGI, or by email us directly. Any of those are limited to just developers.

/me pokes moldyman in the chest. hard. you dont like the stuff? dont buy into it, no one is forcing you, but when progress is being made right in your face and you refuse to recognise it...

i thought you were a good kid, but that kind of attitude lowers a persons opinion of you fast.

Sorry that I can get frustrated. You're right, we should all shut our mouths. (b^_^)b
