I still maintain that http://a1k0n.net/code/donutmk2.c.txt goes further towards proving Andy's humanity.

funguslad..... thats awesome DK, congrats. :)
Oh and Andy is actually human if my memory serves me well.
a1k0n is his evil twin, I dont like him at all.

Oh, I saw this thread, and thought, geez, what'd he break this time? :)

Yeah, me too. Scared me for a sec.

Ok, could you talk a little bit about how you actually made those programs? The code looks seriously scary and quite frankly I wouldn't know how to make such a nice shaded donut without space limitation and code obfuscation in say less than 10,000 lines (even though I am usually pretty good at this stuff). Oh, yeah, and the dump truck is awesome. =)

Should keep you occupied a bit, Andreas.
Dec 02, 2006 RelayeR link
How do you run those in OSX?
Dec 04, 2006 Spider link
In most cases you don't , RelayeR. I mostly doubt they are portable, usually the Makefile is fairly straightforward, so simply unpack them ( terminal all the way here ) cd into the subdir and run "make"
then call ./<appname>

A few of them make hideous things with the Makefile system and so on, and I'm not guaranteeing how safe some of this is ;)

andreas: The decompression of the ASCII art is the hardest part of those things. Here's a hint on the donut: ASCII pixels are big. Huge. So instead of raytracing or drawing polygons, I just draw points. One point, specifically, put through four consecutive rotations, many many times. The equations for rotating one point four consecutive times simplify quite a bit.

Those two ASCII Art Hacks of DOOM work fine on OSX. They're straight C that outputs to terminal. Download the code, make sure it has a .c extension, then do "cc -o donut donutmk2.c -lm" (replace output file and source file with whichever code you want to break your mind with). Then run ./donut (for the above example.

Then bask in the 80x24 character glory, and remember that a1k0n > *

NB: The above assumes you have the development tools installed, or know enough to go find and get them.

But but but, andy is cool, not just cos he can make ASCII art out of source code that actually is just fixed point that looks like some floating point code is irrelivant, andy and the rest of the devs are cool, cos they are human, period.

{edit]

They assimilated will be!

Dear toshiro
What are you talking about?
I don't understand.

Yes, I am Serco
But what's that have to do with
Bunny splattering?

Hey yodaofborg,
There is no fixed point code there.
Where did that come from?

It's all floating point.
Except the decompressor,
Which does some bit-ops.

I bet andreas
Has figured it out by now.
It isn't that hard.
