Just wanting to know b4 spending hard earned $$ to sub.

Hi to all the VO players and forum campers, I have been a player on DarkSpace for some time now and have really started to get sick of the very bad behaviour of a small amount of the player base there. The way some of them are treating other players both new and veteran is a real let down.

Ok I would like to ask the people who have actually played this game what they truly think about the game.(I really dont want the usual yes it's a mad game with this that and everything else, only to find out when I play that most o what they said is actually only on or in the development stages).

DarkSpace is suffering from a constant lag problem which makes it hard to do just about anything without bein destroyed due to running into a planet or whatever else can cause it, so I would like to honestly know if there are any lag issues with this game and if there is how bad are they?

Whats the average size of the daily player base? Eg. how many people are usually on at the differt times of the day? As I am in Australia the best time for me to be playing is usually the worst time for everyone else around the world.

From what I have been able to read through so far the game looks like it has a lot of potential and it actually sounds very interesting so I am hoping to at least spend 1 month on here and if all goes well be here for the next few years or more.

It has a lot of potential. The very basics are getting redeisgned as more advanced stuff is coming in. One problem, which'll be remedied is that things out there for NPCs are not necessarily out there for players yet. One example is capital scale vessels.

There are a lot of things in the works, and I'm not going to lie, they'll take many months (more specific timeframe a Dev might be able to give). But yes it has potential.

As for playyerbase, we have our resident troll genka. Luckily the /ignore and /vote mute commands are there. If you don't mind a few inflated egos and a cannibalistic Doctor (RPed only, I hope >_>), then it should be rather tame and helpful. By far the good players outweigh the bad.

And for time slots, the times you'll be on (your daytime being US night time) there won't be many on. maximum maybe aroudn 20 if you're lucky, 15 or 10 more common. During US day time on weekends we cap out at about 50 or so.

Hope you stick around.

Ive been playing this game for a year and a half, this game has almost no lag at all, its the best online game ive ever played when it comes to lag issues, the player base in this game consist of nice ppl in general, some smack talk and taunting is there, but not in a bad way.

If you start playing, my advice is to join a guild and start roleplaying, makes the game more fun and interesting.

covolt09, This is a good game. It's worth the $10 US a month, although playing in Australia, you'll experience some lag since the servers are in Milwaukee, WI, USA.

Right now the game is one-dimensional, essentially. Mining and Trading are boring exercises in travelling from place to place. It only gets exciting if a pirate finds you in this big empty universe and decides to give chase. Combat is the fun part of this game, and the sooner you get into PvP, the better.

Since you're half a world away, I would estimate that around 15 people will be on on the aveerage weekday, with more (40) on weekends. Most of the playerbase is in North America, with a sizeable contingent in Europe as well.

The game has had a lot of "potential" for years. It still has potential. However, with only a 4-man development team, it's hard to realize that potential. I continue to play because I have faith that the potential will soon be realized. Been here almost 2 years now.

Vendetta rocks hard!!! >:-D

Try it out for a month, it's $10 and I doubt you'll be disappointed. Be sure to check out the Geira/Deneb border war and the weekend greyspace events (see the RP forum) at some point during your trial run, just watch your step space can be a very dangerous place.

Most players are more than willing to show a newb the ropes so don't be afraid to ask on channel 100 if you have any questions.

I also just posted a more involved answer to your "lag" question in the "Test server lag" thread.

^^
And right there is another reason Vendetta is great. The devs talk with the players a lot, even about mundane things like Internet lag over the Pacific.
