Holy crap awesome dual-Joystick deal!

Today's special at woot is a pack of two Saitek Cyborg 3D USB sticks for $11.99+$5.00 shipping. Normal price is around $30 each.

I have an older version of the same stick at home, and love it. It's easily configurable for right or left hand with the little allan wrench that ships with it, and I'm almost certain it works with OS X. This is because I have an earlier version, and it works fine. If for some reason they've done away with Mac support (and evidence online is that they haven't) you're out less than $20, and you can Ebay them for more than that apiece.

(for anybody who doesn't know, Woot sells one thing a day for quite a bit cheaper than you can usually find it elsewhere).

This deal's good until they run out, or midnight Central.

I gotta check this out... dual joysticks is something I've always wanted to try.

They look pretty sweet... no Z rotation though. I wonder how VO handles multiple joysticks? Does using two separate devices cause configuration problems? I'd imagine VO would only recognize one device unless they came as part of a throttle/joystick set or something.

edit: ah, here's the relevant thread.

Oh man... if VO ever integrated support for motion-sensing hardware, imagine dual joysticks with a VR video/audio headset. You'd have the visibility of mouselook with tight joystick control.

"... no Z rotation though."

Phaser, you need to step up to the Gold to get Z. They can be had cheaply also, if you look around. I picked up 4 Golds for about the same price as the Graphite are going for when one major chain stopped carrying them.

Not 'nuff said. The x52 goes for $100 USD, which is significantly more than $12 USD.

You can get 2 remanufactured Saitek Cyborg EVO's which DO have Z-roation (twist), for I think $15 each from Saitek web store.

I use them and I like the setup. adjustable for left/right, big or small hands, thumb hat switch plus 6 other on-stick switches.
The little thrust control lever thingy on the bottom is a fourth analog control, but it's hard to use when both hands are on the sticks.

Aaaand the deal's over.

Z is very useful though. Z on one joystick allows you to map all your standard flight controls to the sticks. I'll try and find my old setup thread.

There it is. This setup works sweet.
