Sector 14 "Rare Metal is Grey"
----------------

Method
From sector 8 head to the middle asteriod. Stay between the sun and the blue asteriod. Get near the center of the roid then aim for the sun. Its not far.

Whats there - valuable rare metals. 250 bots.

Sector 15 "Here there be Pie Rats"
----------------

Method
In sector 10, go to the 6 jump. Look for the asteriod arm leading away from everything. Follow it. Look for a blue ice crystal at the end. Go to it. Postion the ship so 7-11-6 is behind you like that on the radar. 7-11-6. In a straight line jsut like that. Now look at the sun. Secound star on the left, continue till dawn, as one player said. This is the hardest one in the game to hit, although 18 is tuff first few times. You may want to have a player show you.

Whats there - Black Market, buy any ship.
Pirates. Fairly vaulable acid. Trippy.
The gate to S16.

Sector 16 "Frigate of Doom"
----------------

Method 1
The asteriod field in 15 is a horse shoe shape. Like a "U". 10 is at the end of one arm, 16 is at the other.

Method 2
From the station in 5, head towards the sun. Pray. Reapet untill you give up and go to 15.

Whats in it - The raw frig concept art model with turrets
350 "Wing Bots"

Sector 17 "Theres nothing here...is there?"
----------------

Method
From the station in 11, head towards the big roid in the center of the asteroid field. You will want the "S" of the station behind you for this entire trip, except when going around 2 obsticales. Go around the big roid, its just in your way. Now line up the big roid and the station thats behind it to be behind you like this Station->Middle Roid--->You
Look ahead, you should see a small roid all alone in the distance. The station should be directly behind you. Head towards that roid. Go around it like you did the big roid. Now line up the station directly behind you again. Go for a while untill you can warp.

Whats in it - A station that sells worthless
cybernetic shrimp. 350 "Wing Bots". The hidden gate
to sector 18.

Sector 18 "Im rich, Im rich"
----------------
Method. When entering sector 17, look for a small roid that has been hollowed out. Go inside it. Look into the distance, you will see another hollow roid out there. Do not go to it. Turn around towards the 11 gate (not exactly), but you will want to "line the holes up" of the two hollow roids. Make sure your holes are lined up and fly out. You should be targeting between the blue and red space fuzz of the background. Keep going untill you reach the gate. Its a long ways. the gate is a little over 12k from the 11 gate.

Whats there - Baby Robot Making Widgets
Sell these suckers to s14 for big money. Worth
about 16,000 each. Also, surprise, 350 "Wing Bots"

You're ****ing me. I was the one who kept pointing out the two hollow roids that line up. I just went 30km in the wrond direction.

Sigh.

And "Second star to the right and straight on 'till morning" is from Peter Pan.

"Second star to the right and straight on 'till morning"
The english version :)

To get out of 18 look at the asteroid field. Its a "U". The way out is at the top of the "U" between two ice crystals , one on each arm of the "U".
Its very close to the station.

ROFL! xochiluvr, I did the same exact thing when I first went into s17. I lined up, went down the two donut asteroids, and kept boosting and boosting and boosting and boosting... and after about 900km or so there still weren't any wormholes to be seen. I just assumed a hidden sector would be added there later. I never actually thought to try to go the other way, because well... the s11 wormhole was that way. Bah!

Honestly, I don't think it's worth all the trouble to get into s18. Maybe if purple alien fighters were sold in s18 I'd go there. But I've already got plenty of money to even bother going back and forth to trade those profitable widget.

Is it just me of is s17 really dark? On my laptop (which usually has great contrast, but it's still a laptop) I was completely unable to tell which asteroids were donuts and which weren't. In fact, it was everything I could do to not hit any of the asteroids at all. I even turbo'd way out to view the whole scene against varous backgrounds...

Is there any way to adjust gamma?
May 14, 2003 Renegade ++RIP++ link
options, video , scroll down, adjust gamma

at least you were able to do this in the previous releases on this way

cheers

It was silent for about eh...a few hours last night...some golds found it...then someone named "Sharper" sat in 17 and finally caught where we were going and blabed it to all of blue...thus starting a chain reaction when new people came on. I think a gold or two also blabed it but see the problem is with hidden sectors is they are no longer hidden after a few mins.

Doing a post like this really annoys me because a n00b who should be finding these sectors on his own...or in given time now knows how to make the most money the fastest...BUT the downfall is...the faster they run into pirates, n00b killers, hard bots that waste everything they've been working for.

I could see posting about sc16 because everyone wants to see the frigate :)

Found it... now I can see! Thank you!

I don't think you should have posted the locations here, it's supposed to be Secret, you ruin that element if you tell everyone.
May 14, 2003 slappyknappy link
Well... (and I know that I'm certainly guilty of this)...

Everyone was chatting so much begging for help finding sectors, that it was impossible to do anything else, like organize a convoy, because of secret-sector-spam.

So by posting the locations here, we at least cut down on in-game spam.

Ultimately, in the real game, I would like to have bulletin-board type areas in stations where you could post this type of information for public view or for your team's eyes only. Then you could desperse information and still maintain an RPG quality while you're doing it.
May 14, 2003 Arolte link
Simple solution.... everytime someone types the words "hidden", "secret", or "uncharted" in main chat, their ship will be killed by player node 0.

types s_e_c_r_e_t :D :D :D

Almost no one, well maybe Arolite, finds most sectors on thier "own". Non "l33t" players who do not play 8 hours a day or have a gold character have a right to find sectors. What experiance are we taking from them? Begging you in chat? I think your angry because I am taking that experiance from YOU.

I didnt get all this info by hard work, or being really good at the game, in short, I didnt earn it. Either did most of the people that know. They just happen to be in the right color or place at the right time it was found. Thats it.
May 14, 2003 Celebrim link
I think it is niave to think even if the game has 10,000 sectors, that there won't be guides like this appearing within 48 hours or so of the new universes initiation.

I think it is particularly enlightening that StarFreeze is complaining about my democratization of sector information to include the whole blue team.

I agree completely with Nalar. The number of people who earned that information is quite small. The remaining people have that information because the person that obtained it blabbed it to them or to someone who then blabbed it to them. I think people are angry because they like to think of themselves as being better than other people, and knowing a secret is one way that they can do that.

And just so it is clear, whatever faction I choose to be aligned with, I am working behalf of everybody on that team at all times. Thats what it means to be a team. And even if my loyalty to that team was capraciously chosen, my continued loyalty to that team is not dependent upon capracious whims nor changes in circumstance. My appearance in 17 was not coincidental, nor was the fact that I was lurking 12km away in the middle of nowhere, nor was the fact that I was moving with such apparant slowness a mark of my cluelessness or lack of intelligence. I did not 'finally' understand anything. I was gathering intelligence, and I look forward to the day when I can equip my ship with stealth suites and cloaking devices and the other paraphenalia of caution and guile because then you will see where my talents really lie.

My character's call sign is not 'sharper' for nothing. Look the term up sometime.

If you don't want it to be spoiled, don't look in this thread :P

Then electric, move the first post down here and the spoiler warning up top! :)

And how do you propose I do that?

Well, you could use the "edit" feature and cut and paste.
