Do you really think a veteran player is simply going to GIVE a noob anything he asks for?
Sometimes they will benefit from it, sometimes they will give it because... why not? Currently most veteran players can give to noobs up to 100k for nothing, just because given noob complained about running out of money.
Once more. Re-read the part of my post about badges. I'm not a noob and I'd buy advaced rails for... lemmy think... well, for 20k I'd buy adv. rails if I could be able. But no one will sell it to me, so I need to gain 450 more pks to get them (even more pks for my Itany alt, who receives tonnes of moneh from BPing).
A few months ago we didn't even have spoils from fallen enemies.
He he good point...
Well, as for me this is my last post before the next patch is out... I hope the devs will do their best without my participation in flamewars.

So far, Klabbath has persuaded me to his side of the issue. He's made the most straightforward and concise arguements, poked gaping holes in the case for the defense, and generally kept an ironclad case against the matter.

And most of the time, the said n00bs blow thier newfound cash in short order. By your arguement we might as well get rid of money transfers as well, but we all know that would bode ill for all.

Similarly to the above, the n00bs in question would more likely than not get creamed trying to use such weapons from shear inexperience.

Whist I do agree with Phaser that we should wait a while and observe the long-term effects of these changes, I remain adamant that we must consider the consequences pertaining to the immediate future.

Oh, and by the way, when YOU were working oh-so hard for your levels, didn't you have the advantage we just took AWAY from the noobs?
No I didnt have any such advantage, cos bots and people have only just recently started to drop guns and stuff.
So much for Iron Clad :P
But anyways, apart from the fact that this thread belongs in suggesttions and not general it isnt going to make a blind bit of difference. I reckon there are going to be a number of changes that a lot of newer players wont like (and I mean newer as in, played for less than a year) - damn when they first changed the universe into its current state, you should have seen the hell raised by some players *WTF, ITS TOOO BIG* *Nono, Piracy is impossible now* *ZOMG, WHERE IS ANYBODY* ect ect...
...But looking back, those complaints were unfounded, cos we were not looking at the big picture, and you can say that my reasoning is borken, but after seeing this game change drastically a number of times, sometimes for what I considered to be the wrong direction, all became good in the end. I have faith in the devs.

Bottomline is Devs shouldn't implement half of their plans, mildly pissing off quite a few players in the process. At the same time they've been allowing exploits like LENB farming for quite a while. So it's nothing but normal that people complain.
the universe is still too big :P
and this change is crappy.
if the grey stations are going to allow you to equip for a fee eventually then this part of it should never have been released until then.

I already posted yesterday that I do not know why N3's are not working for people. The whole UIT thing should not make a difference. However, until I see Ray on Monday, I'm going to continue to not know why they don't work. This is a bug, or at least an unforseen affect, and not part of the designed implementation.
Secondly, black market locations, such as Corvus, have *always* allowed players to purchase items in advance of their current levels. By the same token, they will now allow players to equip items in advance of their current levels. This should already work, since it was there for purchases to begin with. The corvus level requirements may need some tweaking, however.
This change is for the alteration of addons from purely per-use items to more flexible trade items, and the fact that we don't want to entirely subvert the license system we created.
I don't think it's terribly bad, and give us a couple of days to figure out the bugs and unforseen problems (ie, N3s) before ranting too much.

Go devs! I know this will turn out right in the end. :)

@incarnate:
You just go on and build the game. Most of us will just ignore the whining and wait for you to complete the change.
I'm here to play Vendetta Online by Guild Software.
If I wanted to play a game entirely by my own design, I'd go buy "Game design for dummies"

Sooner or later some people are going to get into their thick, misshapen skulls that stating an opinion in a forum specifically designed to garner feedback, some of which is inevitably going to be negative, IS NOT WHINING.
Demonen, my opinion is different from yours. Learn to deal with that or you're going to be VERY unhappy in a world with five billion people. Negative feedback is the most important criticism possible for any business. Thank gods the Devs are smart enough to realize that, because the users that post here sure don't seem to understand that concept. Anyone that doesn't agree with your narrow little frame of reference is a "whiner" or is "stupid."
You will note that the Devs don't go around locking threads in which users complain. I wonder why the hell that is? Could it possibly be that they see those few complaints that are well-founded as important feedback into the development of this game? Could it be that one of the reasons they created these forums in the first place was to gather precisely that feedback? Wouldn't THAT be a funny coincidence? They create forums to gather feedback, and they GET FEEDBACK! Wow! NEAT!
Now if only this internet thing had a place where we could find pornography and recipes...
I also love how someone can take the time to post legitimate arguments with a well-substantiated list of supportive evidence pointing to logical conclusions and some asshat can make it all go away by waving a hand and typing three lines calling the original poster a whiner. Either find a way to refute the arguments I posted using logic and either inductive or deductive reasoning based on the evidence at hand, or please refrain from irrelevant comments.
ANY paying customer of ANY business has the right to proffer constructive criticism. You don't have to like it. You just have to deal with it.
I, too, am waiting for the change to complete, and I hope it undoes the damage created by THIS change. However I don't want the Devs in a reactionary position where they have to run around and put out fires caused by the last update in every NEW update, and it would appear that's the situation that was just created.
Instead of calling them whiners, you should be happy that there are people that care enough about this game to comment when a change is made that they don't like or agree with. Flip that coin over and look at Star Wars: Galaxies. When THEY propogated a bunch of unwanted changes their userbase didn't complain at all. They just freaking LEFT. They lost 33% of their users in three weeks and are currently marketing their asses off in a desperate attempt to rebuild. I don't want to see that happen to Guild. I love the game, and I genuinely like the guys involved, so as a player it is my RESPONSIBILITY to report to them the things I see and hear from other players, as well as my own opinion. When they tell me, "Shut up, this is how it's going to be," then I will do so.
I'm tired of justifying my opinion. If you want to support the change to the current level restrictions, fine. Say something that supports it. If you want to punch holes in my suggestions and comments, fine. Please learn to attack my WORDS without trying to attack ME, because it makes your arguments inarticulate and specious.
I still think this change is a poor idea. For my reasons why, see my original post.

Hey Yoda;
I don't think this thread necessarily belongs in Suggestions. It was opened originally to invite comment on the changes, not necessarily to specifically suggest new ones. Really it could go in either direction.
As for your comment about bots only dropping things recently, well as long as I have been here that has been a feature, so my comments are still relevant within my frame of reference. Additionally, out of my entire post, if that was the only point you could refute, then I think the original validity still stands, even if that single point of mine was slightly off the bull's eye.
I have faith in the Devs, too, or I wouldn't be here. I am willing, despite my current financial situation (someone buy my goddamn house already!) to support the Devs both financially and emotionally. I am embarked on a completely independent project that can expand the userbase for them as well as market the game on its completion, and I hope they are interested in it as well.
What needs to be understood is that I don't comment on the things I don't agree with from a desire to be surly. I do it because this game is important to me. The Devs have created something great here, and I want to see it become greaterererer. (Great to the 5th power.)
I'm willing to trust them as well, but I would be remiss in my responsibilities to them as a friend and supporter if I didn't stand up occasionally and say, "You know, I think that's the dumbest goddamn idea since Hershey made that green chocolate milk crap to market the Incredible Hulk movie." Saying that is fine as long as I then add the line: "Here's why..." followed by some actual reasons. If I just bitched then Demonen would be right, it would be mindless whining.
The Devs are good people with good ideas. Never assume that because I don't agree with one of their ideas that I don't trust them, think they're stupid, or hate the game. I simply don't agree with this level restriction. (I also feel that the worst thing a government can ever do to trade is start putting a bunch of laws in the way. Gamewise, I see these level restrictions as precisely that.)
