Running OS X you can actually skip the updates and still play. However, I found out that this is a bad idea since the frigate is untargetable until the update is used. You can't even see it. Also, the frigate can kill you. And it did a few times.

No you can't. Someone forgot to update it on the server or something. When you run from the client and try to connect, it will say Error: Version Mismatch. and you are forced to download the update.

Seriously, I was just on, searching for 18.


On a side note, I was PLAYING while the update was/is downloading.

the reason why you can go to the new sectors is because sector data is server side, the map might not work correctly though.

Version only changes when we change the protcol version number and we forgot to change it for 3.2.4 because nothing network-wise has changed.
