Well it took Arolte about 3 minutes to find the frigate, wonder how long the other sectors will remain "hidden." :)
How many of them are there o.O
I think Arolte was the one to find both 16 and 17!
Way to go!!!

Yep, sector 17 was found too. But it took a little longer. It's a pretty neat place. The first time I went through, I got blasted by those damn alien bots. And when I did finally dock at the station, I was really disappointed with what it had to provide. There was nothing new besides a cybernetic widget of some sort, that one teammate described as "a chicken fetus." I mean c'mon, devs... there were insanely tough purple alien ships flying all around. You'd think that station would sell those purple ships. Bah!
=b
Oh... and sector 17 has a bug. When you get out of the station, it throws you right behind the station and out into the middle of nowhere. If you get out with a bus while this occurs, you're as good as dead. Hehe.
Is there a sector 18? Can the devs chime in so I don't lose sleep over it? I must find all hidden sectors!

Yup, 10 minutes later he found 17 and well, it sucks popsicle sticks. It a 1337 botting sector and nothing more.
Is there a sec 18? How many were added?
Edit: I called it a turkey fetus, not chicken >:P
Also, 17 seems to be for visual coolness, not for any useful purpose. The widgets don't sell for much in other stations, and there is little profit taking widgets TO 17 to sell.
Perhaps it's uncharted because it's too boring to put on a map? Or perhaps it has a use merely as a gateway to another hidden sector. If not, bleh. Go look, see the pretty things, laugh at the fetus widget, then leave before the bots destroy you.
Watching the back end of the frigate splinter off the main body and explode for close to 45 seconds was wicked, though. Mondo points to the devs on that. Yummy. If only the bots would leave you alone long enough to GET the widgets the frigate drops.

Well, i got my pc to work, but school is soon, so i will play with my pc =)
I don't trust my poor ibook to run vendetta while the frig does boom.

What do those widgets net ?

Could someone post some screenshots of the frig/alien ship/secret sectors? Defense Ship 4 will not be logging on for a long time...... not after his successful Serco-Itani invasion that pissed off so many "government" Itani...... (I heard of a Neutral invasion against Serco, aren't you going to get fed up about that one, too?)

IMNSO, its this whole stupid 'government' thing that has resulted in the dismemberment and enfeeblement of the blue faction. Until we get in an in game supported means of registering votes and allocating resources, the so called government is nothing more than a clique of friends at best, and a gang of thugs at worst.
But that's off of the topic. Yes, some screen shots would be wonderful! I won't be able to play the game for about 11 hours yet. That's far too long!

tsss
11 hours far too long
what Do I have to say, me starts counting the hours. counts: 2*30*24 hours = 1440, darn that are a lot off hours :(. Then you can at least wait for 11 tiny hours :D
cheers
PS: yes I can count, at least with the help of a calculator :D

We need a government bot (govBot)! :-)

erm, back to topic--sector 16/17
When the update was complete last night, I signed back on right away. WITHIN 30 SECONDS Arolte had located and entered sector 16. I mean honestly, how in God's name could he just find the sector so fast? Given the size of the vendetta universe, and the amount of space in each sector, the odds of him finding it so fast would be close to nothing. What am I missing here? Is he a secret dev? Were sexual favors involved? Did the bribery involve credits or real money?
/me suspects foul play

Arolte IS fast. However, 16 is easy enough to find, if you think about it. 7, 11, and 9 are out because they all touch a sector with a secret wormhole. 5 is the logical place to put one. And every sector requires you to "boost towards the sun" (or near about). From 15, well, that's just logical. However, I haven't heard about 17, so I can't say about that....
Arolte's also found 15, I think he's using some app to analyze sectors in a non-visual format to find links or wormholes.
That notion to bribery was inappropriate.

DanMan: If 16 links 13, as most people suspected it would, then I'm not entirely surprised that someone found it in a hurry. There appears to be visual cues which some people have picked up on that hint to a sectors locations. What those cues are I haven't entirely been able to decide but I've heard mention of 'the grey dot' and 'the black line'. Whether you have to have your graphics settings tweaked a particular way for these to be easily distinguished I don't know. But whatever it is, Arolte has apparantly figured out the trick of it - which doesn't surprise me too much because he spends probably more time online than anyone.
Celebrim, 16 is in 5 and a secret link from 15.
The trick is, boost towards the sun. In 8, it's from the roid. From 10, it's from the asteroids. In 5, from the station. The grey line marks the wormhole. Normally, the grey dot is covered by the wormhole marker, but it's there if you turn off wormhole markings on the radar. If you get within 3000m, watch your radar very closely. As I said, in 15, it's pretty logical. The asteroids are shaped like a horseshoe, at one end is the sec10 wormhole, at the other, sec16.

ok, thank you for the explanation. It doesn't make it much fun for anyone when the long anticipated new *mystery* sectors are discovered immediately. If there are in fact bugs or visual discrepancies that indicate the wormhole location, the devs should fix that before releasing any new sectors.
** I'm assuming that A) more new sectors are underway and B) these visual marks were not deliberately placed **
I appologise for the inappropriate comments above.

Can we also allow for the fact that some of us had a THEORY as to where the new sector would be at? As celebrim said, a number of us figured it was off of either 5 or 13 SOOOO we headed off to 13 to go find it. As it happened, Arolte had the opinion it was in 15 and he was right.
No, I didn't bribe the devs. No, I didn't crack the data files. No, there are no bugs that reveal their location. There are patterns that you can look for where wormholes would be. You don't need to play Vendetta 24/7 to notice 'em either.
If you're still having trouble, here are some tips for finding uncharted sectors:
1. If you see an odd formation of asteroids in a sector, go to it. If it's a chain of crystal asteroids, follow it. They usually point towards uncharted sectors.
2. Boost out really far from the sector and look for a bald spot in the sector. Go to that spot. Uncharted sectors are usually equidistant from the charted sectors. Think symmetrically.
3. If all else fails, go to a significant location of a sector (usually the center) and follow the sun. Keep boosting until your retinas burn and you've lost complete eyesight. Or... just note the location of the sun with stations and other inter-sectoral (is that a word?) features. Sector 17 in particular involves some lining up.
That's all I'll say for now.

:)
"inter-sectoral (is that a word?)"
It's misspelled, but since it has meaning, I'd say so. But its not in context the word you are looking for. You are looking for intra-sectorial - meaning "Within or between a subdivision of a circle"
