Is the new economy borking the old one?
So, today, after moving mothloads of cargo for 2 hours, stockpiling for when the prices go up, I accidentally hit the unload and sell button instead of the Unload button. The sell price immediately lost 1000. Isn't that a little extreme for a 120cu of cargo? It took 41 days to gain that 1000 points, and will take another 41 days to get back there. Could the new "phantom" economy be effecting the economy that is still in place? I've never seen such a drastic drop for a small sale before.
Categorically, no. I haven't even written the necessary code to cause "real" price changes. I'm not familiar enough with the current implementation to guess why you might have experienced that.
Our first categorical denial! I was hoping it wouldn't come to that...
Better get Scott McClellan out here, Devs.

heh.
I saw something like this happen too today. I was transporting a certain... erm, cargo to a certainstation with theintention of selling it. Last I checked, that commodity sold for > 2400. When I got there, the selling price had dropped to 1400.I was a little bummed.
Market crashers strike again! :D
(No, it wasn't me. Really.)

bleh... a 1k drop... whoopty freakin doo...
Porkboy, market drops HAPPEN when people sell things... it's supposed to be that way. Just consider yourself lucky that they didn't drop a price where you were stockpiling from 4400 creds to 300... that happened to one of my routes not too long ago, and just before I was about to sell.

2400? Might as well have said Heliocene, Porklad.
Thing is, people have gotten used to the Moth; before it, if you accidentally sold all the cargo in your ship's hold, the drop was small (and with some holds, nonexistant), but with a whopping 120 units (which to most of us is no longer that whopping, again having grown accustomed to the moth) was, and is, sure to crash it. It was one of the first things we noted with the moth, since in that time you could only sell a limited number of units at a time (can't remember the original number) and that number got bumped up to 120 when the moth came; it was with the new UI that selling of unlimited number of units at a time came about.
As for the new ec, I hear it's limited to Sedina at the moment and does nothing yet.

It's not limited to Sedina (it's universe-wide), but it does, from a player's perspective, do nothing right now.
