I think there should be a name trial. Anyone who wants a particular name has to fight those who wants it. Therefore, all calls for those who want "Ghost" or "Assassin" should fight for it in duel with all the other people who want that particular name. The name would have some clout or meaning behind it because the holder would earn it!
