How to kill the NPC? I share my tactic
First off, doesn't this belong in RP?

So why would this suggest that the AI is in no need of attention? So there is an easy way to kill the AI. Why is this any better than it was before? I would prefer to at least have a straight up head to head fight that was easy, than a turbo and run, turn and fire fight which was easy (which seems even more unrealistic).
I haven't tried the AI really yet, but from the sound of it it could still use some tweaking (is there an AI that doesn't?)

Did it really take you twelve minutes to write that Genka? I mean, I know you do spend a good deal of time weighing the pros and cons of the goo you spew, but this seems a little short of the mark for you no? I mean, you didn't even get anywhere near the target, let alone the bullseye!?
I think it may be time for you to expand your horizons my friend. Tunnel vision is starting to invade your "judgement".

Nya, thanks for the post. A lot of new players (and not so new) have had problems adapting to the AI's increased precision.

It is not necessary to turbo away. Fly backwards. When you see the NPC turbo in your direction (it does that when you go out of its preferred range), accelerate and shoot straight in its little face.
Other method: use rails, they do not dodge them.
Last but not least: they tend to forget safety distance if you do not shoot. Let them come close before shooting at all.

Sure does, says that I'm basing my opinion on the two or three times I've fought it (it being the new AI), and upon the recent observations of others who's opinions I respect.

Bots in Deneb are different somehow from the bots in Sedina? I had zero problems with the hive bots over the weekend, but the Deneb bots were little punks that sat at 200 m.
Perhaps it's just because the hive bots aren't as agile as the Cent II's that the Deneb bots fly? I dunno.
But, essentially treating the bots like backrollers (using Nya's or plm's tactics) is the only way to kill them, either that or pair up with a wingmate and pick off targets when their attention is NOT on you.
I've found that there are essentially 3 (maybe 4) classes of Deneb BP Bot AI.
1. The turbo-at-you in jousting moves AI, which used to be the hardest, is now the easiest to finish off, because they at least get in close.
2. The "in-your-face at 50 m" AI seems to have disappeared from this version.
3. The "sit at 100 m" AI, which used to be the easiest, seems to have disappeared as well.
4. The "sit at 200 m" AI, which was always annoying, now seems to be the dominant AI selection from Deneb run bots, and it's the worst since their dodging has improved to be near-instantaneous.
I'd say that my BP experience over the weekend consisted of about 15% of #1 and 85% of #4. Have not played Sun or Mon so I dunno if it's fixed yet, I'll try tonight.

All the bots have the same AI when it comes to combat - the difference is in the mass and power of the bot ships. Many of the bot ships are quite slow and ponderous to pilot (speaking from personal experience), which makes them seem dumb. That same AI in a Cent is dangerous.
phaseblasters tore them up for me they seem to almost disregard them.
I tried again BP with vult+neut. The bots come close to you (50-150m) if you do not fire at them. So keep FA on, let them get close and blast them.
Sometimes a bot stops at 200m no matter what and stays there. To get rid of those I have found nothing better than the backpedal-accelerate tactics to screw their distance control.
And guess what, fighting against two bots is much more fun! The one you are not engaging gets closer, so you can alternate between them.

Hummm... I kinda like the new AI... but I also seem to get bored with it faster... I've spent hours botting - something like 10,800 bots worth (and therefore learning the AIs)... and this new AI is is fun for short periods... but having to work so hard to get the bot-lys to splode, I lose interest faster... (or I'm just a tired old guy, take your pick).
I like the challenge... but for them to just park themselves 200m out, no matter what I do... it makes it a game of aim (and I alternate between AA on and off - usually off, which is actually better for close range and I think my in-your-face stuff is suffering)...
I don't have the time to devote to it anyway, right now... so it's splode a couple, move on for me. That's about all I have to say about that.
