Screw Standing

May 08, 2006 LeChatlier link
Yeah. Seriously it takes way to long to get high standing. I do escort missions for Orion and get +4? And trade missions and such give me +3-5 standing each time. At this rate, I'll have to do more than a hundred missions just to get "admired" with them. Was this tweaked recently? Because I don't remember it being this hard before. If not, can someone tell me a faster way to get standing, cuz this is ridiculous.

Have you tried the new escort missions?
Have you tried bulk procurement?

I'm ready to help, Tam.

Don't wast your time on those missions, do the mineral mission for Latos Mining (latos N-2) and you'll get WAY more then that per mission, and they go pretty quick. Can usually go from 0 to 800 in about 3-4 hours.

Before, one could go off and kill NPC pirates while on an escort mission. I got mucho standing this way.

Bulk procurement is the best way to get standing. I went from -599 to admired in 2 hours, paying other traders to bring me goods.

Care to clarify? Expect as in "cuz he's uber rich!"?

Ty all. Leber, those are the missions I've been doing, but the pace is still slow. Will try the prospecting and maybe longer range procurement.

Seriously awesome. Bulk procurement is the way to go.. over 120+ standing each run in a moth, took less than two hours to reach 800+. Leb's, you are my hero. I will have your babies. As many as you want.

I hope they make it so you can _Become_ Corvus, and maintain relation ships with both nations whilst killing eveeryone.......

or, just take off that god-damned friendlyfire :)

I still think that players should start out completely neutral (unaligned) and have the option of joining one of the main three nations (or a pirate) through something like a mission tree. The character creation screen would just let the player choose in which nation space he wanted to be placed.... but that would be off topic, now wouldn't it. Yah, procurement missions are the way to go. Even a faction-seeking pirate finds them convenient from time to time.

Dokutsu, that doesn't make any sense. The Serco, Itani and UIT have been living separated for so long that your birth nation matters a LOT, including genetics, culture, religion, education, technology (including implants) etc. In VO, only robots are really unaligned.

i built up my standing with serco...but then i through screw it and i blew up a SF and from +108 i went to -997

LOL!

The best way to lose standing to to gank a dev in Utani or Serco space - that really pisses them off for some reason...the good nes is, it happens instantaneously ;)

(ask me how I know!)

Good point, CygnusX.

While your points being true (even if taken in an RP sense), it doesn't detract from the fact - if an Itani born in Itani space really wanted to become UIT hired pilot, that he couldn't. Or if some peaceful Serco rejected the ideals of his own nation (that stinkin' traitor), that he couldn't become a trader between Itani and Serco space (but make it incredibly difficult to become trusted by both factions, of course). My suggestion was more in the mind of being able to join, or be affiliated with, nation subfactions, or choose to be _labelled_ as a neutral. A player might be able to get a UIT, Order of Akan, Corvus/Pirate, or TPG 'tag' perhaps almost like a medal.

But its not like that would happen often anyways, since players that chose to start out in Itani space... more than likely want to be Itani. I was thinking the mission tree would be somewhat of a newbie mission (maybe even incorporate it into the tutorial? Heck, it might even be a cool idea to have nation-specific tutorials somewhere in the future... but I digress).

Sorry to hijack your thread, Tamion.

From where I see it, only five true factions exist: UIT, Serco, Itani, Akanese and Corvus; the Corps should be subfactions of UIT, and loss/gain of standing with a Corp or UIT should affect the rest (i.e. you gain TPG, you gain a little in all other Corps and UIT). I hope to see something like this when the faction system is overhauled; the Akanese faction could be added even if Akanese content is still not present (all players would have it at -200, like Corvus, and maybe even not visible).

A mission to change allegiance would be a nice answer for what Doukutsu wants. You get admired standing with the Nation you desire to join and take the Citizenship Application mission or somesuch. The mission directs you through a number of objectives to prove your allegiance; in the case of the Warring Nations (or UIT and Corvus) you would be asked to go and destroy a number of enemy ships; the mission should be not too hard, but somewhat long, and once you finish the mission your chara's nation changes. Finally, to avoid any possible abuse resulting from nation shifting, make it so a player can only change his allegiance every six months or so.

Hmmm... I smell "suggestions" all over this thread now...

No prob, Tamion. Wait - Tamion will have my babies? I thought that was Cho's arena...

Oh and yeah I want an Orion faction character in the worst way...

Indeed.

I wish for the ability to raise my standing with the screws!

What is the screw station nearest to Sedina?
