Is Vendetta right for me?

May 04, 2006 hkdl link
Ok I use to play Earth and Beyond and loved it, then it died and I tried Eve and hated it. Mainly because it seemed way more complicated that it needed to be and just boring to me. I was just wondering if any other Earth and Beyond people played here and how the game compared to EnB.

Let me be honest with you: I've never played Earth and Beyond or Eve. Is Vendetta
right for you? Probably yes. Vendetta is growing, slowly but surely and evolving
too. There are quite a few character "tracks" you can choose, and there will be more. And if you choose one track and don't like it, changing to another is easy.
But the most important thing is (as I said) Vendetta is growing. New content has
recently been added and there is more in the pipe. We are starting to get some
mention in the "press" and more people are coming in. And best of all, it is cheap
to play and you can bail anytime you feel that Vendetta is not "right" for you.
Give it a try !!

There is an EnB guild, so, yes many other people that have played EnB are now playing Vendetta

VO is vastly different to EnB. The most telling differences are combat (VO's PvP persistant, twitch based) openness of play (VO boasts no classes, only Licenses, so you can change your chara's direction at any time) and content (VO has at the moment too little content in comparison to what EnB used to have, though a lot of it is being introduced these days). If EnB were still alive, I daresay I'd play both, just as there are people who play both EVE and VO (interactive screensavers like EVE are not for me, though, thankyouverymuch) since the games offer comparable enjoyment in very different ways.

Besides the fact that they're both science fiction, VO is the exact opposite of EVE.

Questions to ask yourself, hkdl:

Do you like twitch based combat?
Once you get your levels up a bit, you have just as good a chance in the PvP arena as anyone else. There are no skill ranks or dice rolling, just your speed, wit, and skill against other players.

Are you willing to wait for stuff, or do you want a 200 dev game where everything is ready nownownow?
Vendetta is developing very fast, considering that it only has four devs. The devs are very nice and will respond to player bugs, suggestions, and most other queries. Anyone with a red name is a dev, so if you look around the message board, it pretty much tells the story.

Are you patient enough to not give up after a couple PvP fights?
Yes, many people work hard, get good ships, then come down to the main PvP arena and get pwned by much better players. It happens. Not until your first 50 PvP deaths of so do you even START getting a substantial amount of Player Kills, and not until your first 100 kills or so do you finally begin to understand and manipulate the combats you're in. The leveling is minimal, but PvP training, (through practice) truly is the only measure of who is best in VO. Not how long you've been playing, not how many hours you've spent skill/feat/money-grinding to get your character better than everyone else's. In combat, it's your wit against someone elses. Your strengths against their weekness's. Your reaction on theirs.

If you answer yes to 2 of those, then yes I think you'll love VO. If you answer yes to 1 of em', buy a month and see.

As a Vendetta player, I can't help but publicise a few other perks I didn't already say:
-Great playerbase
-Greater devs (it deserves being said twice)
-Great combat system
-Great stuff in the works

I hope you join, so I can look forward to shooting down ye' n00bishness,
