Hmm. They're hotlinking to the download, which is a no-no but I personally don't have a problem with (except that you can't create an account in-game, so it's kind of confusing if you download it outside of our signup form)

We are also (still, so far) at the top of happypenguin.org, which is bringing in a decent number of new trials.

Speaking of the download, are you planning to replace it with 1.5, so new players won't have to download as many updates? The reason I'm asking is that I've been around promoting VO and getting some new players, and downloading updates is a lot slower than downloading the game itself.

You know we're trying very hard to NOT advertise the game, especially in the mac world, until we improve the UI and add a new tutorial interface? Which should only be a couple of weeks away.

You can look at it like: every confused newbie who shows up and can't figure out the game and leaves.. will not be coming back (and that is the vast majority of them, most do NOT ask for help on chat). People generally form opinions and then don't give games a second chance. Our current success rate with newbies is terrible, so we haven't been going out of our way to get more of them until the game is a little easier to get into.

Aside from that, I appreciate your good intentions :).

Incarnate, that is why we should bring people from REAL LIFE in the game, so you can show 'em around and stuff.

Mabbe a news post on the topic would encourage people to do that?

Yeah, and whoever keeps posting updates to happypenguin.org also needs finding and killing. It made me post, and it always turns into bitch wars there! (even though they do actually delete stuff now, they use phpbb! ffs!)

Don't worry about it, everyone. I do appreciate the good will, and we could use the grassroots help in a couple of weeks, once things are little more "ready" for new people.

When I first married Ray I was like Calder, let's get this thing advertised but then I realized that you only get one 1st impression and that the buying public can be fickle. For example it is amazing how people complain that the game should be free.
I haven't checked recently but even in the unpolished state Vendetta was getting 6-7 on the rating scale. I hope that we can convince some of those reviewers to revist the VO 2.0 and see if they will reassess the ratings based on the improvements.

However as anxious as I am I will try to wait for it to happen, nothing good will come from rushing into the release.
