I hope that we CAN have a next capship battle! Those were fun as hell, I wish they hadn't been cancelled.
/me reminisces dreamily back to the time he spent 1 million credits divebombing the Itani capship in a rag and consistently being shot down by Niki, Ghost and Shape.
*sigh* Good times, good times.

I remember a capship battle that was more awesome looking than any cinematic space battle i've ever seen.
I was flying in escort with the itani capship as it warped from Deneb to Sedina, and right when I warped in, with the giant warp bubble of the itani ship to my left, I looked up upon the entire sector filled with ships hurling light at eachother from every distance, and two capital ships spraying gat fire into space, ships exploding at every moment.
I think there were something like 60 players in the sector at that moment. I remember getting chills on my spine and lust for destruction as I boosted into the cloud. That was the single coolest moment i've had in VO, or possibly any other game i've played. I REALLY wish we could have more events like that...
If the Devs could make a way to really create that kind of scenario, instead of leaving it up to the players to organize such an event, they'd be tapping one of the greatest aspects of VO. <nudge nudge>

Capships make any battle fun, though. I remember a couple of weeks ago when it was a Serco HAC against two Itani tridents. The HAC had more firepower, but the Tridents were better staffed (one of 'em had all positions occupied, the other half-full), so it was a fun fight. :P
I just hope that they don't lag everyone to death like they've been doing in B8 lately.
terribleCabbage, I hope you don't mind I used one of your pictures for here: http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Image:Teradon.png . If you mind, please say so and I'm sure the picture can be replaced or removed.
Also, I fifth? a return of the cap ship battles.

I think it's cool that you are following a set theme with the TPG ships (i.e. they both look allot alike) and hope you keep doing this with the newer ships, I think it will help set factions apart more.
Oh yeah and props on the update, it's starting to remind me of the good ol days when I first joined and we got updates every week.

Pixelcat: Sure, go ahead. It's a crap image, though, I have all my display settings turned down as far as they go. Get Leber to do it. :D
Oh, and, umm, sixth, Capship battles for the very much win.

AH, I remember the good ol' days of capship battles too... bombing the HACs in a formation of rags :D Of course, they had beams by the time I came in. They are fun, when more than three people per side show up.
On a more serious note, the Teradons have a tendency not to shoot back when attacked. THat's probably a bug...
Or that they need no shoot back since they are indestructable to begin with.
Hey hey! I was shot at during the race! Damn thing nicked my armor good in two seconds fire from one of it's turrets >_<!
The teradon just doesn't have enough turrets to defend itself properly (which is why it doesn't shoot back at times). I intend to remedy that.
We're also working on some server-side improvements to get better performance (lag, both network and cpu) in big fights with lots of ships. I want to really improve cap ship battle performance, so we can have more of them and make it more of an integral part of the game. It's been one of our big goals from the beginning.. and now we have enough caps to really start doing it.

one word : YAY !
While Teradons will not have docking bays, will a player or players/guilds still be able to purchase and/or operate them?
Give it a year Dawg!

I really hope this'll happen sooner rather than later. At the moment, any time a Teradon or Trident (along with the usual attendant convoy of moths) enters the sector, my client freezes for a couple of seconds. This wouldn't be so bad in itself, except that it happens in the middle of fights in B-8, or when I'm trying to dock (I've ended up issuing on the side of station at least once). :S

Have you tried turning down some of your graphic/video settings. Also try not to face the WH when your fighting in B8, that helps with the WH animation slowing stuff down.
I have the same thing as TC here
The problem is not lag, it is your computer loading the model and texture.
John: I have everything turned down as low as they go. The problem isn't reduced at all by facing away from the entering convoy - I usually don't know they've entered until I hit the lag, then turn around to see what caused it.
I have a 2GHz machine, plus a GF4 440MX. What's the minimum requirement to run the game comfortably these days? :\
