Very sorry for the outage everyone.
We're back up and running. A dumb server problem we're currently fixing.
Glad all works again. I just noticed the site was down and then the game also. :)

OH NOES VO NEEDS FUNDING!
Damn those mercenary electricity companies and their unreasonable demands for money!
I almost died when it was down. I need my graphical chat engine :)
/me gets Inc one of those newfangled "Smart" servers... Not those dumb ones...
/me buys devs Xserve Raid (From Apple of Course)
oh thanks God (devs) my work was pretty boring while the site were down :-p
Anxiety Attack is over now.
Sing the I'm Very very Sorry song? >_>
Could've just said that the server(s) went down for unscheduled maintenance issues ;o).
Unless they involve a truck, at which point we want to hear every little incriminating detail *grin*

Wow, it was nearly 2 hours before somebody made a garbage truck reference!
Oh don't worry, I made one in IRC before the post existed.
well, as my late mother always said " worse things happen at sea " Gawd knows why , the nearest she ever got to the sea was a cross channel ferry . But hey , its a rather pithy comment anyway.....
Actually , given the complexity of things , the vo servers are pretty reliable really.....
cheers
ecka...

"...the vo servers are pretty reliable really..."
You ain't kiddin' there. Back when I started on WoW (ten day trial), I spent so long just downloading the updates after installing, I went to bed instead of playing. Had to wait for my next day off... then discovered the servers were regularly scheduled to go down for maintenance during that day. That wasn't the final nail in WoW's coffin for me, but it was one of the most important.
Havin' the VO servers go down just reminds me how much I appreciate having VO around ;o).
P.S.: Couldn't resist the truck reference, and if nobody else was gonna make it... ;o)

Reliability is a very *good* thing, but I almost want the servers to be taxed so much that they either:
A) do go down once in a while OR
B) require periodic downtime for upgrades and the like due to rapidly increasing player numbers.
This game sorely needs a larger playerbase.

Actually, since the server(s) are set up in a cluster, I do not think it's likely that they will ever really need to take down the entire cluster, just a few nodes, upgrade them, put them back into the cluster, and repeat.. I could be wrong however, but, it seems to me that is how it should work.
