In my maddening anticipation of customizable User Interface Skins.... (yes I know I may be delerious, but I put way more work into some of my ship models knowing they would never get ingame) I though I would start things off.....

but it a) involves using a "feature" that will likely be taken out in the next version and b) is a PITA to do cause it involves modifying every single widget :/

Actually, there are a few of us trying to figure out how to do that. There were a lot of changes made from one beta to the next that just keeping up with the changes was hard enough and that doesn't take into concideration the new stuff sence beta1. Now that 1.5.2 is out and stable, we have made a some headway. What is giving me problems, besides my lack of programing knowledge, is the layout of the media.rlb. I'm more of a jack of all trades then a programer.
Actually this is a good time as any to try this:
Devs, I formally request more information about ether the makeup of the media.rlb file or the layout of the "replacement" files needed to modify the new UI as well as the what pertanent lua scripting is needed. I understand wanting to keep your intelectual property protected as well as your copyrights. All I am asking for is just the info needed for the UI graphics layout and background scripting needed to place controls/buttons. Thank you for your time, Stranger

We will allow skins in a couple weeks when we have all the 'exploits' knocked out and some simple docs on how to make skins.
