Lagginess at a moderate-to-high level as of 7:30 PM Monday night Central Standard time. Not exactly unplayable, but I'll wager that ever since momerath restarted Deliverator at around 3PM this afternoon... something is brokie.

I'm gonna go watch 24. Go Jack Bauer!

FYI, this was a problem related to the outage we had on Saturday. All fixored now (was fixed a couple of hours ago, but took awhile to migrate the load to other servers).

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!
So what "WAS" the problem for all of us who'd like to think we'd understand.

The cascading failure on saturday caused the sector servers to lose their connection to the core server, and they were never restarted. So basically, it was "laggy" today because the entire game was running off of one machine instead of seven.

Ah, here's one event I don't regret missing! :P

Ooohhh...

VO servers have load balancing? Neat-O. Real server architecture.

just for the fun of the argumentation: i think "distributed load" is more appropriatte in this case. load balancing might involve some on-the-run "balancing" which i don't think it's the case here.

also, the "one server running everyting" temporary solution was a manual tweak from what i understood, so one more reason to not call it "balancing"

i'd be glad to be wrong :)

I can't wait for the day when V-O needs 700 servers, spread throughout the world. That'll be kickass.

Ratonu:
Actually it does do some on-the-run balancing.

Imagen if the player base started getting their own servers in their homes, and paying for fiber obtic internet access. And then we could own entire systems, by providing the server for them!

And we could all put heliocene in all the asteroids in our system. I think i like where you're going with this macguy
