14 day trial.

Jan 26, 2006 DruAde link
If it says 14 day trial why do we get you have 15 minutes of your 8 hour trial in game last night ?

Im not moaning dev dudes but it does say 14 day trial after all. It looks like quite a few will sign up but it would be nice to get a little longer before we commit. If its in error then fair enough we will deal with it but some clarification would help our information for our members on our guild pages.

Cheers.

Nope, it says 8 hour trial, well at least on the official website, the only time you will get more than 8 hours is if you buy the retail box, then you get 30 days of playtime included :)

There has never been a 14 day trial...

8 hours is more than enough...

The difference is that in eve you need 14 days to understand just about anything :)

The 8 hour trial is definitely NOT enough.

I'm way beyond that but I remember when I started. I was quite new to the genre and the 8 hour period wasn't even close to reveal to me the scope that VO is capable of.

That's why I had registered for the monthly payment method (one wich I've kept since), so that I could cancel any time as soon as I found a reason to.

I failed that but for the better :-)

But 8 hours is not enough. I'd give it double that at least. I dont think that would have any negative impact on Guild Software revenues. On the contrary I'm sure.

I must admit I spent quite a lot of time chatting to people in channel 100 . Always nice to check out the comunity and see what makes it tick. Before I knew it the warning came up and I hadnt really done anything appart from configure my JS and lvl enough to get a light figher with a bigger gun. A little while longer would have been nice as some people take a little longer to make up their minds wether to part with their cash and time. Then again I think sid and cybadog have been on for over 20 hours each in two days anyway . DND arnt power gamers pah , sados maybe.

indeed, it never said 14 days but it should, if not 14 at least a couple more than 1.

reasons?
- more players in the game for the paying customers to "spend time" with
- good publicity if publicized
- we all know vendetta is addicting, so why not give the trialers a chance?

reasons against?
Maybe just that Paying players could mind?! name one! i would be happy to rejoin at any time if more players would be in game. Now i am on-hold because i don't have the time to spend online, and when i look at the "active players" list i don't see no reason why i should join. non-multiplayer games are a lot cheaper and many of them more interesting. i don't want to flame this forum, but why not recognize it: vendetta is not (and i don't think it ever was) a MASSIVE Multiplayer game. Even Scorced3D or that game with tanks running arround is more MASSIVE at times (like now for example, active: 15 players -- 3 Itani, 5 Serco, 7 UIT)

i may post a separate motion on the forums as a new topic so devs will see it and also to check if this is just my issue or are there others that feel the same.

ratonu: yes there are, incl. myself; there has been a few threads/posts about that during the last couple of months. However this is probably more complex than that; you could have 50 people fighting in B8 and that would not make the game any more interesting; the majority of players need a more elaborated environment (with missions and such) to role-play and interact, which is what makes MMORPG fun.

and re topic: 8 hours is more than enough to test the game when there are people actually willing to help.

I certainly used my 8 hours well with a good mixture of stuff... combat missions, trading, mining, other missions and a lot of chatting in 100. Lots of help and welcomes from the ppl online gave me the warm fuzzy feeling of a comfortable community.

Sure there are not many people online at one time, but that may change as time goes on and if any advertising etc is done to any great degree. It may not ever get to huge audiences but it doesn't need to for it to be enjoyable.. I spent 3 years in Jumpgate where the max peak it ever made was about 450 people online. Very enjoyable years and that was down to the community and the interest of the playerbase to "make their own content".

Maybe more time on the free trial would encourage trialers to stay, but you need to get the trialers to know about the game first if you really want to grow the playerbase.

I've signed up for 3 months billing and I expect to be around for a while :)
