How stable ?

Dec 18, 2005 Black Omega link
Out of a never ending quest for knowledge ( and boredom ) I decided to see ( foolishly ) if I could get VO to run in Windows ME.
"But it runs in Windoze!" I hear you cry. Well it runs in Windoze ME on Virtual PC on my G5 too !!
OK the frame rate is nothing to get excited about, it more frames per minute than FPS and loading a sector takes about 5 minutes, but it runs.

Base machine is a 1.8 G5 with 2GB of RAM. Anyone got anything faster to give it a try ?

are we even talking a REAL Windows ME machine? because, I seriously doubt it could run on one... ME isn't an operating system - it's a joke. An ME emulator for Mac is likely to be MORE stable than the real thing, because unlike the real thing, someone making the emulator actually cares that it WORKS.

Yup, you were bored.

Yup its VPC 7.0.2 running a genuine copy of ME.

Early Single G51.8ghz Powermac with 2GB Ram with ATI 9800 Pro SE 256mb running the windoze version of VO in VPC. Just for a laugh.

VPC 6 doesn't work on my G5 :(

Ummm, uhhh, errr, well................. WHY ???
I can't think of any reason to do something like that.
Run some worthless, rickety old excuse for an OS on
your MAC ???
Curiosity is one thing, but this is almost obscene !!

Why ? Because that's the old hacker spirit !
I know people who won't be happy until they
have BSD running on their electric bread makers.

/me hides his BSD breadmaker, Linux Toster, and ME Vacuum (damn thing always breaks)

Ahh, that explains why Niki tried VO on VPC...a challenge!

Sorry "Jakob LeMort."
This effort should not be dignified by calling it "hacking."
It's just plain SILLY !!

SILLY !!! How dare you, you ninny. :)

It was done just to see if it COULD be done. Just like people climb mountains 'because its there'

Niki's VPCVO runs more quickly than mine apparently. Prolly 'cos his is a dual CPU version.
