a1k0n's my hero.

I especially like the "bored" one on the radar.

I've never seen the Furie before. not even near a hive. And I have 16 queens done and more I didn't down myself.

Why dont devs release these cools ships? If not only for variety. Even if they're only NPC ships for now.

I'm sick of the Cent, the Taur and the Prom!

I understand the UFO ship because it's totally out of context but that Furie looks like it should be a Serco ship. Perhaps a Pillar Of Society -only ship.

I'm also wondering why devs dont accept any of the submitted ships to them. I've seen a few user-designed ships that should probably be in-game. They look nice.

Who care if they dont share quite the same texture as previous ships, or upcoming TPG Raptor & Destroyer ones (and the Trident, whoever makes it). It's not like the Vulture has any interesting texture to it.

The furie was a bot ship back in alpha...

Furies are still ingame starfisher, try queening in edras, for instance :)

[edit] me goes queening in Edras, http://yodaofborg.kicks-ass.net/images/furie.jpg :P

maybe.... because the devs don't have infinate time to be toying with everyone's pet ship ideas? =D

just a thought...

Yah Cunjo, i reckon if it was as easy as dropping it into the game, (with some sort of legal agreement made up too, of course) they would, but its not, you dont just need a model, and textures, ya know...

ey! a furrie!

Those Devs seem to have the time to spell out messages in cargo, for the amusement of their cronies.

I wonder, how do you get to developia anyway? is it invitation only? or is there a separate extra subscription? I suspect it's more like a nightclub, where you pay to get in, but certain people get to go in the VIP lounge, because they know the DJ. Please remember Devs, we who pay and play and wait for an update, are not paying for you to entertain your friends, we are paying for a service.

and yes, you're right, I am just envious.

The main pictures were taken in Dau not Devlopia Skystrider. The reason for their apperance was numerous questions about why cargo 'times out' so quickly.
Even with a few dozen or so crates FPS rates drop seriously and lag increases.
As for time to spell out messages the devs seem to have a text to cargo in space GUI converter.

/me wants that converter

How many widgets can the maud hold now? I thought it was only 18

The Devs have been supportive of people submitting ship ideas, but as Cunjo says, it's no trivial matter to add a ship to the game. Consider that Incarnate is adding a ship from an actual artist but is unwilling to dive into the difficulties of trying to reduce the poly count. As hard as it is to build a ship, it's worse to tweak one. See the wiki for ship building info:

@ skystrider:

As Black Omega notes, the cargo is very obviously "typed" into the sector. It's a quick line of LUA code that a1k0n inputs into the console (faster than you can blink, no doubt).

As for Developia, access to that sector requires a guide or developer "flag" on an account to be able to use a command to teleport there. It's just a ordinary-looking sector with a station that sells everything available on the production server. It's mostly for testing. There's no party, nobody really hangs out there, and I've never noticed any of the dev's "cronies" there.

Actually, the basis for the questions was "how many objects can a sector handle before it gets too laggy to play in?"
Dec 03, 2005 Dark Knight link
Yeah, if there were any pilots capable of flying accurately (and quickly) enough to spell that out manually, we'd all be screwed.

Yah, well, not since alpha, anyways, the picture that I posted was a screenshot taken by a1k0n, not by me (like they would give me a furie? hehehe) just to clear things up :)
