quick question
why do only certain stations sell railgun mk2 s? i mean i've seen that it's available at some stations but not others and can't fugure out the patern.
my best guess is that some factions don't sell it but that doesn't make any sence to me

It's not just the rail Lord Q, it's all weapons/ships/goods.
doncha see? cause some stations dont sell certain stuff yah?
like for example not most stations sell manufacturing tools, or power regulators, yah?
or that heliocene mining beam!

::sigh::
yes certain stations don'e sell certain equipment. my question is specificly with regards to the rail mk2 (the prise for the 25 PK badge) which is sold at some stations that don't sell the mk1 (so it isn't linked directly to availability of mk1 rails) and seems to not require a faction level with the local faction. so, is there any peritcular reason that this perticular weapon isn't sold at some stations (some factions don't carry it, some types of stations don't carry it, some stations chosen at random don't carry it, etc)

this would be like me asking why not all stations sell the heliocene mining beam, see its not linked to the mk2 is it? could it be cause its not a mining station? no... is it faction? well maybe, but no one really knows.
seems random as ever!

Some stations also dont sell megaposis...
The reason? no idea.

I've never not been able to buy rail mkII's or MP's at certain stations. Give me the sector of one that doesn't sell it.
Weapons are actually made in-game. Stations construct weapons out of ores and trade goods. A station that does not have certain ores/trade goods cannot make certain weapons. Rail II's have a different dependancy tree than Rail I's. Similarly, Neutron II's have different deps than Neutron I's, which is why you sometimes see one and not the other, or sometimes Neutron II's being sold as cheaper than Neutron I's. Da.
Am I the only one picking up on who? me?'s half-baked effort to sound like Ayn?
WHAT EFFORT? I MADE NO SUCH THING!
roguelazer,
is that true? i know that was the direction the devs wanted the econamy to go, but i didn't think it was curently that way

There has been some behind-the-scenes crafting going on at the station level for quite some time. Incarnate spelled it all out in a post a few months ago. I'm not certain if this system is the reason that you aren't finding what you want a a particular station.
Here's what's planned for the future of crafting:

It's like any retail environment. They advertise it, keep a finite amount in stock, some jackass comes in and buys all of them, they order more but they won't be coming in for many days or weeks, and it pisses off the customers when they have been flying all over the galaxy looking for it. Then they take it out on the first employee they see as if the $7.00/hour cashier has anything to do with the advertisng and logistcs of the company.
I hate capitalism. Oh, and my job.
[EDIT] i'm the lowly supervisor, not the cashier though.
