TCP ports and Faction standing
Firstly, Can anyone tell which TCP/IP / UDP ports VO talks and listens on?
Secondly, is it possible to repair your standing with a nation that hates you so much they send strike forces after you?

to your secondly:
getting you faction standing up above KOS (-600) with one of the three nations requires you to basically go kill bots (any bots) in an unmonitored sector in their nation space. You get about +0.5 faction per bot. Oruns collectors and hive queens count about the same (from my experience), so go for the easier, quicker kills or combine it with Adv Combat for XP. Depending on where you want to do this, you may have to outrun a few SF to get to your new bot-farm. Many times.
Good luck.

It's also a lot quicker if you bot until you die instead of trying to return to safe space once you reach a certain level of damage. Saves a lot of time on trips.
Once you hit 600 (or -599, do't remember) they stop coming after you and you can dock again. Should you wish to go further than this, Guild Mission trading will help you do it by leaps and bounds.

The Updater makes a connection to update.guildsoftware.com TCP port 21042, and the game makes a UDP connection to majikthise.guildsoftware.com (production server) or zarniwoop.guildsoftware.com (test server) on port 21141.
Like WIll & Jex said, you can bot in monitored space to get back up above -600, and then you'll be able to dock again & won't have to flee SF all the time. Just note that all the non-nation factions (Xang Xi, Ineubis, Orion, TPG, etc.) have no monitored space other than their station sectors, so you cannot bot your standing back up with them. If you drop below -600 with one of these factions, you're pretty much out of luck unless you can manage to kill another player who is also in bad standing with the faction in one of the faction's sectors.

Beo... on the point of factions.
I do believe UPN found a way to raise your standing with them... there's a specific bot in the strike force that you can kill to get .5 standing... *waits for UPN to explain further*
