backing up settings/binds...
How would I do this in windows? also, I'd like to know if it woulkd work to have different copies of the binds/settings to swap in and out depending on the character I plan on using (different hails, etc...)
I'm assuming there's some kind of configuration file I could copy and back up, or even swap in and out... what is it and what effect will changing/restoring it have on the game?
thanks in advance.

Backing up your binds is simple, just make a backup copy of the wgaf.cfg file. For having different copies of the binds/settings you want to use, make files using the same format as wgaf.cfg, but give them unique names, like say the character you plan on using. Then, when you're in-game, run the commmand /load <filename> where <filename> is the configuration file you want to load. However, note that all of the binds and aliases in the file you load will be included in wgaf.cfg when you exit VO, so make sure you have a backup copy of the original wgaf.cfg so you don't lose the original binds.
The DWO Flight Operating System is a good example of having several config files that can be loaded: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/9/10126
