Question for the devs regarding spacecraft design: Asymmetry
Can the Vendetta physics engine handle an asymmetrical ship?
I remember a1k0n saying that each ship had a mass distribution matrix or something, so I know that the physics engine treats ships as extensive bodies rather than point masses, which is way cool because some ships have a higher moment of inertia than others due to their shape.
My next question would be is the thrust/torque applied to a point on the ship or evenly across all mass? And would this make an asymmetrical ship with lopsided mass impossible to design?
The reason I'm asking is that from an artistic standpoint I think asymmetry in spacecraft design is eye-catching and can be very cool...

It can handle it, sure; we have an inertia tensor which contains the relative rotational inertia along three orthogonal axes.
The ship exporter plugin assumes a uniform density, though, when computing this matrix and the center of gravity.
