The first time I looked at the boards I was hellishly confused by all the nicknames people used for ships... so... This thread may *seem* useless to some of you, but it could be useful to others.

EC-88 - GovBus
EC series - Bus
Centurion - Cent
Vulture- Vult
Warthog - Hog ("Chopper" if you're Spence)
Centaur - Taur (Never call a Centaur a Cent... Cent refers to 1/100 and that is more applicable to the Centurion, which was the commander of a group of one hundred roman soldiers... NOT the mythical half-man/half-horse Centaur).
Ragnarok - Rag
Behemoth - Moth
Valkyrie - Valk
Marauder - Maud
Prometheus - Prom

Sometimes... certain prefixes are added to the front of ship names... like a rockettaur would be a Centaur with a rocket loadout... and a SPAM-rag would be a Ragnarok with a homing missle (likely geminis) and swarm loadout.

And then there's the MGC... a special form of rag... which I can't remember the exact loadout info on.

Hope this helps some new players over any confusion as to terms... feel free to add other commonly used terms.

i think the MGC is the same thing as the spam rag. people figured out that it was cheap, and the name got changed

MGC is a rocket rag, "Mini Goliath Cannon". 3x SunFlares (or, now that the other flares have been de-nerfed, 3x any Flares), 2x Jacks, or 1x Jack & 1x Screamer. 2x Screamer would also work, but due to the energy req on the Screamer isn't common.

Also, minor correction, a Centurion is the Commander of 100 men, not any member of the group of 100 men. The group of 100 men (or 100 of anything, now usually years) is a Century.

I prefer the duel screamer variant for the one hit kill on anything <10000 armour.

Cent has historically referred to both Centurion and Centaur. Context usually made it clear what you meant, or you just used the full name.

There is also the illusive Vulk which never seemed to mean any ship in particular >.>

Oh yeah. Centaurs are often referred to as Centa's as well.

Also Valkyrie = Valk = Potato
IBG/Rev C = Pencil of death

and not so common
Tung Centaur + GT, Jacks/screamers, Flares = Bird of Prey (rather uncommon)

Triflare - not so common since the flares got taken down a notch, 3 flare tubes on a valk or maud.

Very small notch flares got taken down. They're still very good.

Tungtaur = Tung Mining Centa

ATX = TPG Atlas X

Tung Mining Centa? What ship is that? A hybrid of the Tunguska Aggresso Centaur and the Tunguska Mineral Marauder?

Positaur, centaur with megapositron blasters

Posihog, warthog with megapositron and axia accelerated positron blasters. (nice with chainfiring)

Beolach: It would be the Tunguska Heavy Mining Concern Centaur. Also known as the Aggresso Centaur, or simply an Aggro.

Jaws - Quad Rail Hornet

martin used to call a quad flare hornet the Horentzor.

And of course we can't foget: TPG Atlas X + flare + AGT + Tumblemonster = Atlas of DOOOOOM!

And then the Warthog Mineral Extractor taken into combat is naturally known as the Warthog CrippledPidgeon Combat Special.

Hmm hornetzor isn't mine. I'd call it a quad flare. I'm not sure where Hornetzor and all it's variants came from.
