Hehe, I had some thing about voice chat in one of my logs about the cap ship war.
Jes was funny, though Lebers Yoda impression made me laugh. You remember man? You jumped in with the Tani crap ship as me and my guys were getting blown to crap by the UIT and Sercs. And you said, around the survivors a perimeter create.
Haha, good times.

Teamspeak for mac is out go grab the beta and lets get some VO servers up and ready!
http://www.savvy.nl/blog/
Its by a third party developer but it should (technically) connect to servers with the speex codec.
*EDIT*
I logged into a server that had a few people there and Teamspeex does work, worked very well indeed. Can't wait to get most of vendetta on this. But perhaps it might be best to separate us into nations for the most part.

Yah in my best Yoda voice... (which is not good)
I wonder if I could set up a teamspeak server....?

Let's use Skype! Who's with me? Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!
Id like to comment on getting some NPC voices into game?
Hehe... both Skype *and* teamspeak here... but, like Lebes said... only when asked nicely... Skype is a bit of a resource hog for some... teamspeak is a bit more resource friendly (but not nearly as clear)... so there are tradeoffs... USB headset (Plantronics DA50) makes it quite nice...
I have skype (graig972) but doesn't it cut iTunes sound while in communication? that would be bad, i love to play VO with my own music.
Or may be there is a VO folder where we could put our mp3s in it?
I'd like to talk to other players---> hey that would be kickass in the players events!

AKA Ecka Estenk,
The mac version of teamspeak is called Teamspeex. (www.savvy.nl or just google teamspeex) . It is a public beta , but works well with a usb headset , I notice no VO lag whilst using it. Teamspeex allows coversation whilst directing game sound fx to the mac built in speakers.
Ion is right , the Griffin iMic is a great wee thing ; I have had one for about 6 years and it gives better audio levels when connecting a mac to a hi fi system than the direct audio ports.

Well, Teamspeak requires that someone host a server for us. Skype has no such restriction. So I guess I'll try Skype. Obviously I'm "LeberMac" on Skype.
I need a headset tho - Seta you like the Plantronics DA50? I'll try it. Griffin iMic tho. Hrm. I'll pick up a headset of some sort soon - I don't think my XBox live one will work with my iMac.

Actually those of us with iMac G5's cannot use the built-in microphone, since it picks up unbearable levels of fan noise. We can't use the line-in port, either, unless we have a preamp. The microphone levels for the line-in 1/8" port are so low as to be nonexistent.
Looks like I'll have to go grab either a new USB mic or get that spiffy Griffin iMic...
I know about Teamspeex. However, who will host the server for us?

Lebes: Yeah... I like it... (don't know if you can even get it anymore)... it's an older model, and if I wasn't so lazy I'd go look for something newer/smaller... it has great fidelity, tho...
AKA Ecka Estenk,
I use the plantronics DSP 400 usb headset , plug and talk with a mac , cost £18 . I like the in line volume and mute control , and the fact that it sits comfortably on my head . Not that I have much hair to get in the way these days........
