Grouping & Guild general questions..
When do players usually start to group up? Also, is there a sector where everyone hangs out at? I've been killing bots, doing trade missions and I have yet to run into anyone, so it's been getting quite lonely. <grin>
As for guilds, how do I join one, and are there daily guild events or guild vs guild wars?
Lastly, I've finally managed to get 1/1/-/1/- (I think that's right), and have a few ships now. When do people usually start PVP'ing?
Thanks for any replies..

at your curent level you may want to avoid PVP, since you will be hevily out-equipped. After level 3/3/3 or so you will be better able to survive PVP but 4/4/4 is where you get the first of the equipment that is competitive with the "best" stuff However when you want to get involved in PVP Sedina B-8 is the place to be.
as for grooping i mostly hear about grooping on the boarder patrole mission. Other than that grpups are used mostly on an as needed basis.
as for guilds, there are several guilds there is no real need to join a guild but many guilds are recruting [shameless plug] including Eo's path, a new guild looking for founding members [/shameless plug].
asking around in chanell 100 will get you more detail about all of this.

Look for me ingame Low, and I'll hip you to botting (killing bots for experience). We'll group up and pop some nasties.
Otherwise just try taking the beginner combat missions alone. Start with Oruns, then move up to Kanniks, Denteks and then Artemis.
And most of us combat-oriented types like to hang out in Sedina B-8.
Plenty of guild-vs. guild wars in the past, but right now I think the conflist is tending towards an Itani vs. Serco thing. Which is cool.

Lies! your levels are quite well-suited for starting off in PvP!
In fact, you might be a bit of a late starter as it is...

If you want to start PvPing in earnest I highly recommend getting to at least 3/3/3 first... however, nothing is keeping you from trying :). Sedina B-8 has become the unnofficial "arena" of Vendetta, where players test their mettle in PvP.
Also, if there is ever another cap ship war hosted, at level 1/1/-/1/- you'd make a good stringray-monkey to bomb the cap ship with ;).
edit: and also, try asking someone to /duel with you... that's a good friendly way to learn some PvP skills

Oh, and genka ([syn]n00b) is the best mentor in the game.
If you see him, do a /mentor invite [syn]n00b.
NOT.

actually, a nice pvp setup is available for the itani at a very early stage (as low as 1/2/x/x/x, but 2/2/0/ would be better) an IBG is pretty leathal with phase blasters, or even ion blasters, ask martin :P and Sedina B8 is indeed the place to find people, but you should be aware that just going for a stroll there (or mining, heh) will probably result in you getting shot at. PvP isnt always consentual.
the IBG is great with low-level weapons since they're light and have low drain. but you want a better battery than a light or medium battery to actually fly the IBG from Itani space to B8. :-)
Flying an IBG any distance with a free or light battery... /me shudders. Turbo, wait for recharge, turbo, wait for recharge... jump! Yay! Rinse, repeat.
But yeah, ultralights (IBG or Rev. C Centurions, w/ Phase blasters [preferably Orion XGX or TPG Sparrows]) are very nice. Arguably the best light ships in the game.

Up until recently, higher level players killing lower level players recieved an XP penalty. Because of that, I would have said low level players going into PvP was very bad form, until they didn't cause the XP penalty. But in the last few patches that was removed (yay!), so now, I'd say go into PvP whenever you want to. But do realize that until around 4/4/4/4 you will be limited to inferior equipment, which makes it more likely that you will die. But PvP is easily enough fun that I'd say it's worth doing, even if you are low level and likely to die.

Just make sure you have enough cash to keep buying equipment when you die.
Running in an ultralight is hard... because the jump vulnerability will hurt thee badly... because of the extreme lack of armor.

IBG + XGX isn't the best light fighter in the game, but it is, by far, the worst possible thing to hit. of course, hitting with it requires a fair bit of skill as well.
Arguable. It's a priorities thing: do you want more to not get hit, or to hit the other person? And it's not even all that difficult to hit with it, thanks to the infini-fire energy spam. But it takes forever to kill anything.
really, you Genka is right....as long as you have a wraith or vult, PvP is fine. also, having bus wars (the free ship) are pretty fun, and everyone can do it.
