Aug 13, 2005 kihjin link
Just wanted to say thanks to Guild software. I renewed my subscription for 6 months, starting 8/21 (my current one is not yet finished).

Maybe I'll start playing again. Either way, keep up the good work Guild.

I figure I'd let you all know that I too, despite my incredibly tight budget, have renewed my account to support guild software in the development in this game.

I'd come down to their office personally if I could, just to express to the devs that they have the base for a game that could be among the most successful MMORPG's out there. You guys could have mad success with this game if you just build some content!

I really wish you guys could get a publisher or supporter to fund your project so you could get more programers and artists aboard. I'm actually not sure WHY that hasn't happened yet.

Vendetta Online is seriously one of a kind. It's an MMORPG where one's progression in the game (to whatever goal there may be) is not bent on how many hours of time you have to waste in your pathetic life. It's bent on your determination, skill, knowledge of the game, and personal giftedness. Thus, heroes arise from out of the population of players like those in real life.

Honestly... how many players that are MAX level in World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XI, Everquest, etc. do you really respect and admire for their skill in the game?... For me, VERY few... because most of these people are just kids in their parents' basement who have 20hrs/day of their life to spend on the game.

VO is different. you don't go spend some form of currency or spend a certain number of hours playing to earn your skills in VO. They are learned, either by your self, or better, by other players.

Training in this game is REAL training. Combat is Kung-Fu like in it's intricacy and has true master-apprentice relationships not only in RP but also in your true skill and knowledge of the game.

For example. Sputnik taught me some basic and advanced PvP techniques when I was very new, Beolach taught me the basics of dodging fire from bots and landing successful hits on them in the meantime. All of my current skills still reflect those basic teachings, and I have developed them and passed them down onto other players, thus a martial combat form has been born, and is passed on just like the real thing. This is a beautiful thing that I have never seen in an online game.

I would post more about suggestions to build on and maintain the spirit of this game, but I don't like to post rants much.

P.S.: Devs, If you let this game die (player count right now is 12...) I will come to your office and slap you...

I <3 Vendetta...

It's near or after midnight on a "school night" in 2/3 of the USA right now, not really primetime for VO, so I wouldn't worry about player count. It's also not in any financial trouble, due to a pretty low overhead cost at the moment. Vendetta's not going anywhere anytime soon.

The MMORPG space genre just isn't in vogue in recent years. Even seemingly successful games in the genre were closed down because the industry didn't feel that such games were worthwhile. I love this sort of game, and so gladly hand over my sheckles to see it live and evolve. Thanks!

Besides, player count isn't 12 at the moment... we've got 20 on right now.

Heh, not to burst anyone's bubble or anything, but skill is most definately tied to how much time you spend in game - but you spend it practicing, not grinding. That alone, for me, is enough of a distinction to warrant praise, but be careful how you phrase it to sharp outsiders - they may just throw what I said above back at you.
