BIlling question

Jul 02, 2005 dragos link
Not sure where else to post this, couldn't find an answer in the faq, and got no response on IRC.

I am having to cancel my subscription for a short while(moving, dont have a card to put it on until I get a new bank). Dose the account stay in a frozen state for awhile after canceling or does it disappear on the last day of the active subcription?

Good question. Another question. If you've got a credit card number on your account and your time is up, does the subscription automatically renew and charge you, or do you have to manually do that yourself?

If you cancel your subscription, it just stops it from billing your credit card again when your time runs out. After that time, you can resume your account at any time, up to nine months after your subscription ran out.

The billing system will automatically bill you at the end of the month/3 months/whatever for continued gameplay.

Is there any way to stop the auto-renew billing "feature"? That's not something I'd like to have, personally. A lot of companies do it and I hate to admit it but it gets on my nerves. I mean most often they don't send you a notice and you forget to cancel or hold a subscription, leaving you with an unpleasant surprise in your next statement. Bleh...

You could just pay for the next [amount of time], and then immediately cancel your subscription. It'll still let you play until your time is up.

Good call. Thanks, Harry Seldon. It's not that I'm not interested in playing or that I can't afford it. The problem is I'm so hooked on it. BUT I need to get some work done in real life. So I'll probably end up taking a quick break (a few weeks or a month) after my current subscription is up.

Also, if you use PayByCash, there's no auto-bill.

but paybycash may take a bit longer
