Ultimate/Planned Capital Ship Battle (9) (The Return of BLAK Battle)
There will be an Ultimate/Planned Capital Ship Battle (9) (The Return of BLAK Battle) Saturday, July 2, 2005, at 7pm GMT. Use Daylight Saving Time (where applicable) to translate the time. We will be using Scenario 1 for this battle.
NO RULES. Ok I’ll say it again NO RULES. Do what ever you want. I won’t be coordinating this event (because there is no need too). Fight anyway you want. Attack any ship you want and team up with anyone you want. Also no prizes at all for this battle. Just have fun.
19:00 GMT All cap ships will spawn at their ready positions:
(I don’t know exact locations but they will be spawned 1 sector away from Sedina B8)
19:20 GMT Cap ships will start moving toward Sedina B8. When the cap ships jump to B8 the battle will start.
Please be sure you are all on time. With the changes we should be able to start the battle at 7:20 pm GMT. I would like to start as close to that time as possible. You should arrive at 7 pm GMT though.
I once again want to thank the developers and guides for their help. Without them we wouldn’t have a game at all.
I want to give a special thanks to Yoda. This was actually his idea. He says chaos is good, let’s see if he’s right.

Yea, you can tell cap ship battles have died since the mining beams.

I don't think it is the beam weapons. I think the community has been a bit light lately. Everyone is waiting for the new stuff.
in terms of the cap ship battles, it's too hard to damage the ships up close, unless you're in a turret, and it's not much fun launching missiles from 1km away, and it's not much fun trying to peg guys outside of your range when you're in a turret. Only the n00bs who haven't figured out that it's suicide to get within range of your turret are really fair game.
Gets dumb pretty quickly.
I think it would be much more interesting to have the cappies start back at their normal start points, so that we have a chance to shoot stuff to look tough on the way to the battle. :P Heck, it would allow groups to ambush the cappies on the way, and hone their use of mines and rockets (which are really the only weapons that do enough damage to be significant at this point) to damage the caps.

we need sort of really heavy bombers, which have no chance against light fighters, but can be used to attack cap ships tutrets

That is what the Rag is SUPPOSED to be, a heavy support ship.
its not the weapons... its just that the game is getting... well, (I am sorry, here) old.

I have been trying to get as many people I know to sign up for this game because I feel like a bigger player base would make a crap load of difference, but to no avail.
A 3-4 man team of DEVS just isn't able to pump things out quick enough to attract my friends. My friends are such losers. =(

There havent been a lot of updates lately because we've been working on tools to allow us to produce content more quickly. When we're done (Soon), we'll be able to pump out content faster than ever, and I think you'll be surprised just how much 4 people can do. Also, we'd rather potential players tried VO for the first time after we've been doing this for a little while, so they won't be disappointed and potentially not come back when it *is* really cool. And, of course, once it is to the point that new players don't get bored so easily, there will be more people online all the time (more fun), and we'll have enough income to hire some more devs to produce even more content.

I'm aggreing with Dank, the game does seem to get old without updates. The game has been going though a "dry spell", but only to make the game better.
The only real good reason I even play the game now is because most of the people online are great. The graphics aren't spectacular, there isn't much content (yet! its all coming... SOONtm), and the guilds need a severe spanking(cleaning up the guilds).

Harry: there is a script that the guides and developers have to make the cap ships start in theier capital sectors. But i think the itani one will be spawned a little closer. I haven't asked them to use it because i think the battle would take to long about 3 to 4 hours instead of the 1 to 2 hours it takes now.
But if you want a longer battle with more stratagy i might call for that senario for this weeks battle.

JB: The script that we havent used yet spawns them each where you specified they should be spawned for scenario 2. I'd go look it up, but I need to begin preparation for barbequeing (in a light drizzle unfortunately- gotta love wisconsin)
heh yeah, We had that drizzle going for a while. Thought the fireworks were gonna be cancelled this year. Luckily Andy brought hundreds of bottle rockets to keep us entertained. :)
