just woke up and this idea popped into my mind. (its messy, but hey i just woke up...)

this is somethin for all those wannabe bountyhunters

The mission would be triggered by players actually entering or leaving a stationsector/station, or it could go off at random times.. But the idea is that there has been some of em thiefinīpierats from corvus in action again, and they have been able to obtain X ammount of goods/plans/ships/vendetta dollars. So the station security systems sends out a distress call to all nearby pilots/closest allied station.

Now from 10sec to 1 minute later a corvus tagged vult/marauder/moth will exit the station boosting for escape, it is your job to stop them!

And there could be different cenarios, if plans has been stolen they will escape in a fast ship, vult or cent, of they are hauling on more goods like that xith they have disguised themselves in a moth and maybe there are 2 combatvults waiting outside the 3k border, in stealth to dispatch of those in pursuit

it is now your choice to help the station, or not, and if you succeed, you will earn maybe a few of their own special crafted (insert "unique" widget here), maybe it could be something usable for combat some have a great worth to other stations, and a faction increase as topping. And i see different rewards for different stations based on what they are, mining research, capitols, industry and so on, usable for different things.

this should be hard for a very skilled pilot, or even a group of pilots. these pierats arnt like those traders flying around, and not like the hive either.. make it hard

A bit of a fleshing out from nuthou5e's idea.

::Infection::

Available to Serco/Itani/ UIT Rival Factions

Take this Mainframe Virus widget to Station _____ in Sector _______ and place it into the stations hold. The virus will replicate through the stations mainframe once it's scanned, and is programmed to send you critical top secret data after 1 minute of station departure. You must remain within 2000m of the station to receive the communication. The station strike force will most likely be deployed to dispatch you. Did we mention you need to blend in with other traders by taking an Atlas? Return the stolen data to us immediately.

Result: Major faction increase with mission supplier. Major faction decrease with rival/other nation. Combat XP up 2000 for survival + XP for killing any strike forces. Varying amount of $$$ for any time bonus.

A group mission where escorts are employed to protect the atlas would be great as well.

Bumpage, as we come ever closer to being able to implement the best mission designs....

These ones probably won't be possible with the initial web-based mission editor, but hopefully eventually...

--- Solo Open ---
Offered at Sedina II Orbital (Sedina K-13) [and other stations, when racetracks outside of Sedina appear], available to all individual pilots. The mission charges a 50000 credit entrance fee, and randomly selects one of the racetrack sectors in the system, and sends the player to that sector to race. The success or failure, and the reward for the mission, depends on what percentile the player's time is in among all recorded times for that racetrack, as follows:
Success Condition 1: Top 1% of all times for that racetrack: Rewards 500000 credits, 1000 Combat Piloting experience points.

Success Condition 2: Top 10% of all times for that racetrack: Rewards 100000 credits, 200 Combat Piloting experience points.

Success Condition 3: Top 25% of all times for that racetrack: Rewards 75000 credits, 150 Combat Piloting experience points.

Success Condition 4: Top 50% of all times for that racetrack: Rewards 25000 credits (note: less than the enterance fee), 100 Combat Piloting points.

Failure Condition: Bottom 50% of all times for that racetrack: no reward or penalty (other than the entrance fee).

--- League Entrance Trial ---
Offered from all stations, available to pilots with at least 10 successful "Solo Open" missions, and no successful "League Entrance Trial" missions. The mission charges a 100000 credit entrance fee, and randomly selects a racetrack from the closest system with racetracks to the station where the mission is taken. The mission is a success if the player races through the track with a time in the top 25% of all times recorded for that track, and a failure otherwise. The reward for success is a "<faction> Sponsored League Racer" badge from the faction that owns the station where the mission was taken. The badge entitles the character to a 5% discount when purchasing ships from the sponsoring faction, and makes additional racing missions available.

--- Group Racing ---
Available to groups only, where all members of the group have "<faction> Sponsored League Racer" badges from the same faction. Offered at Sedina II Orbital (Sedina K-13) [and other stations, when racetracks outside of Sedina appear]. The mission charges a 100000 credit entrance fee from each group member, and randomly selects a racetrack. All members of the group race through the track. The success or failure of the mission is based on the percentile of the group's average time among all recorded times for that racetrack:
Success Condition 1: The group's average time is in the top 1% of all times recorded for that racetrack: Rewards 500000 * <Number of Group Members> credits and 500 * <Number of Group Members> Combat Piloting experience points to each group member.

Success Condition 2: The group's average time is in the top 10% of all times recorded for that racetrack: Rewards 100000 * <Number of Group Members> credits and 250 * <Number of Group Members> Combat Piloting experience points to each group member.

Success Condition 3: The group's average time is in the top 25% of all times recorded for that racetrack: Rewards 50000 * <Number of Group Members> credits and 100 * <Number of Group Members> Combat Piloting experience points to each group member.

Success Condition 4: The group's average time is in the top 50% of all times recorded for that racetrack: Rewards 10000 * <Number of Group Members> credits and 50 * <Number of Group Members> Combat Piloting experience points to each group member.

Failure Condition: The group's average time is in the bottom 50% of all times recorded for that racetrack: no reward or penalty (other than the entrance fee).

OK here's my mission (Well it's 2 missions, really):
[Prerequisites]
Trade Level 10
Corvus Station
Admired Corvus Standing

[Mission Offering] Blockade Run: Deliver <#quantity> of <#widget> to <#station> in <#timeframe>. Be warned: <#opposingfaction> will attempt to stop you.

they take the mission...
I would like to "hide" this blockade-running mission amongst other missions of the same type in stations throughout grayspace. So taking this initial mission would be very nondescript, as if it was just another trade mission.

[Add Action] "Send message..." "Thanks for agreeing to meet me. We have an emergency. <#station> has a shortage of <#widgets>. We have nowhere else to turn but Corvus, since our situation is desperate. If you can, run <#quantity> of them quickly through the blockade. The <#opposingfaction> faction will attempt to stop you, there are reports of ships massing at the destination wormhole. Be careful, pilot."

[Add Ships]
First WH on route:

Tries to prevent player from entering the WH by killing them, chasing them as a strikeforce would.
1. Type B Marauder FC Batt Dual Sunflares Single N2
If the ship is killed, an exact replica respawns from the nearest <#opposingfaction> station and gets back on-station as soon as possible.

Last WH on route:
As player warps through, these guys are waiting to kill the player. They will pursue just like a strikeforce would.
1. Ragnarok Mk III Dual Chaos swarms, Triple Gemini homers, FC Batt
2. Warthog Mk. II AGT & Sunflare, FC Batt
3. Vult Mk IV, dual N3, Heavy Batt
If the ships are killed, an exact replica respawns from the nearest <#opposingfaction> station and gets back on-station as soon as possible.

[Add Objective] 1. Deliver the <#quantity> of <#widget> to <#station>
HOW you do it is entirely up to you. You can hire escorts, whatever, even have someone else deliver it FOR you, however YOU still get the mission XP and stuff. The player MUST purchase the cargo themselves.

[Player Dies] Mission Failure.

[Timeframe Expires] Mission Failure. Spawned ships go back to the nearest <#opposingfaction> station, but will attack the player if they are in proximity. Player keeps the cargo.

[Failure] "Send message..." "Pathetic fool! You have failed utterly in your mission. The <#opposingfaction> laughs cruelly at your ineptitude and the good people of the <#station> station now bear the burden for your incompetence."
Corvus Standing -20

[Player Aborts Mission] "Send message..." "Good help IS hard to find. We need pilots who do what they SAY they can do, not wannabes."
Corvus Standing -5

[Success] "Send message..." "Success! The good people of <#station> rejoice! Congratulations on your successful blockade run!"
Corvus Standing +20
Credit Reward: 250,000
Trade XP: +500
Combat XP: +250
<#opposingfaction> Standing -5
VARIABLE INCREMENT: tequila_mission_possibility = tequila_mission_possibility+1

*********************

[Prerequisites]
Trade Level 10
Corvus Station
Admired Corvus Standing
tequila_mission_possibility >= 1

[Mission Offering] Meet with a Shadowy Figure, away from the eyes of <#opposingfaction>

they take the mission...

[Add Action] "Send message..." "Your reputation as a blockade runner preceeds you, pilot. Let me be blunt. We need a special delivery of a package to <#station>. Due to the nature of this cargo many will pursue you from the <#opposingfaction>. You have <#timeframe> to complete this mission: it is important that the cargo be delivered in a timely fashion. Everything depends on the package being delivered on time, Understand?"

The player is not told what the cargo is, but if he/she looks it is 3 crates (1 cu each) of tequila.

[Add Ships]
First WH on route:

Tries to prevent player from entering the WH by killing them, chasing them as a strikeforce would. If the player is killed, the ships of the opfor group together (even the ones from the other WH) and convoy to the nearest <#opposingfaction> station.
1. Type B Marauder FC Batt Dual Sunflares Single N2
2. Warthog Mk. II AGT & Sunflare, FC Batt
If the ships are killed, an exact replica respawns from the nearest <#opposingfaction> station and gets back on-station as soon as possible.

Last WH on route:
As player warps through, these guys are waiting to kill the player. They will pursue just like a strikeforce would. If the player is killed, the ships of the opfor group together (even the ones from the other WH) and convoy to the nearest <#opposingfaction> station.
1. Ragnarok Mk III Dual Chaos swarms, Triple Gemini homers, FC Batt
2. Warthog Mk. II AGT & Sunflare, FC Batt
3. Vult Mk IV, dual N3, Heavy Batt
4.Type B Marauder FC Batt Dual Sunflares Single N2
If the ships are killed, an exact replica respawns from the nearest <#opposingfaction> station and gets back on-station as soon as possible.

[Player Dies] "Send message..." "The <#opposingfaction> is grouping up and attempting to deliver the tequila to <#opposingfactionstation>. You may still have time to accomplish your mission!"
Player can continue to destroy the opfor ships, take back the tequila, and deliver it.

[Timeframe Expires] Mission Failure. Spawned ships hunt down player like an eternal strikeforce, as long as the player retains the tequila in cargo hold. If player removes tequila from cargo hold while in-station, it poofs.
Additionally, I'd like the spawned bots to taunt the player if they catch him in station, like "Come out, <#playername>, you pansy!" or "I want my tequila back, <#playername>!"

[Failure] "Send message..." "The <#opposingfaction> has captured the tequila crates and drinks heartily to your ineffectual atttempt to run their mighty blockade. You never see the shadowy corvus figure again."
Corvus Standing -20
Trade XP: -100
VARIABLE DECREMENT: tequila_mission_possibility = -5

[Player Aborts Mission] "Send message..." "Good help IS hard to find. We need pilots who do what they SAY they can do, not wannabes."
Corvus Standing -5
Tequila poofs from cargo hold or wherever it was. Spawned ships return to nearest <#oppositionfaction> station.
VARIABLE DECREMENT: tequila_mission_possibility = -3

[Success] "Send message..." "Success! Just in time for the <#randomname> festival! You party down with the happy folks of <#station> station: Congratulations on your successful tequila blockade run... Here, keep a crate for yourself!"
Corvus Standing +100
Credit Reward: 750,000
Trade XP: +1,000
Combat XP: +500
Reward widget: 1 crate of tequila (Worth oh, say 10,000 cr)
<#opposingfaction> Standing -30
FLAG SET: tequila_mission_possibility = 0

OK whaddya think? Too complex?
